Muckraking Wins Again

Following two sharply-written front-page stories in the Wall Street Journal in the last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announces (sub reqd.) she wants to publish online details of how all House members spend their office budgets, Roll Call reports.

The Wall Street Journal had noted how at present, those records are kept in a basement in the Capitol complex, “stored in a cupboard in a windowless office near a shoeshine stand.”

The paper had detailed how various lawmakers lease luxury autos, bought a digital camera and more, using taxpayer funds alloted to their offices.
