Senate Could Disclose Expenses, Too

Just as the House of Representatives may post its members’ expenditures online, at least one Senator is pushing his august body to do the same. Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) told the Wall Street Journal  he’s introducing a bill that would require the Senate to publish its office expenses on the Internet.

A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) told the paper the proposal was “something that we will take a look at.”

Oh, also – I noted yesterday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) made her pitch for public disclosure of expenses shortly after the Wall Street Journal ran two front-page stories on the topic. A Pelosi spokesperson told the paper “her action wasn't prompted by the articles.”
