Facing a explosion of skepticism, Gov. Mark Sanford is talking.  At a press conference in the state capital, Sanford said, “One desperately needs a break from the bubble.”  Though the press conference quickly changed gears.  "But let me lay out that larger story” he continued, at times breaking up with emotion.  “Let me first of all apologize to my wife and my 4 boys.”

“I’ve let down a lot of people, that’s the bottom line.”

“I’m here because if you were to look at God’s laws they are designed to protect people from themselves…it is indeed to protect ourselves from ourselves.”

“There are consequences when you do that.”

“I’ve been unfaithful to my wife.  I developed a relationship with what started out with a dear dear friend from Argentina.”

“Recently over this last year it developed into something much more than that.”

It has been a wild couple of days in South Carolina.  The Governor left town in a cloak of secrecy.  His wife said she didn’t know exactly where he went — the Lt. Governor was unsure too.  His office said he was taking a break and recharging off the grid, so to speak.  The story then was that he was hiking along the Appalachian Trail.  That was until a reporter for “The State” newspaper intercepted him at the Atlanta airport.  The Governor said he was down in Argentina opting for a more exotic trip over hiking.
