The gruesome murder of Jasmine Fiore last week led to a widely televised manhunt for reality star suspect Ryan Jenkins and ended with Jenkins’ suicide. But the story of the murdered bikini model, found stuffed in a suitcase, is still far from over. “20/20” explores new details, going inside the secrets of Jasmine and Ryan’s relationship and investigating how a man with a history of domestic abuse cleared background checks to be on a reality show. Deborah Roberts’ report airs on “20/20” on FRIDAY, August 28 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Plus: “20/20” travels back to a dangerous swimming hole in western Colorado to re-live the harrowing day six good friends became five. A drowning woman is saved, but her savior is lost. Jay Schadler reports.
And: Do moms who micro-manage their children’s lives do more harm than good? That’s a question that Chris Connelly poses to mothers, college kids and experts alike – including one doctor who describes such moms as “helicopter moms” because they are constantly “hovering”.
Also: During the current health care debate, many people who are complaining about health care insurance say the solution is to make insurance companies cover more, lowering deductibles so we all pay less. But John Stossel asks, if we pay less, what will that really do to costs?
“20/20” is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel. David Sloan is executive producer.
