Should Obama Listen to Bob Dole?
When it comes to health care, everyone, it seems, has advice for the President. Add Bob Dole to the list. He wrote an Op-Ed in the Washington Post this morning. Key graph:
"If I were a White House adviser, I would suggest that the day Congress reconvenes, President Obama's version of reform should be introduced by Democratic leaders in the House and Senate. Health-care reform is the vital issue of our time, and Obama should be out front with his specific plan on this make-or-break issue."

I think that President Obama should listen to the people who are having a hard time affording health care and take note of what has been goin on with the health care system and the damage that has been done and the damage that needs alot of repair.

Do listen to what Bob Dole has to say. You don’t have to agree with all of it or any of it. It will only take a minute to read his comments.
It’s just interesting why Sen. Kennedy did not pick a VA Hospital for his operation and aftercare. He was a vet. If he believed in governement-run hospitals, why not go to one?
Remember when some were protesting over the care our returning soldiers were receiving in the VA Hospitals?
Well, it might be the same reason why Kennedy was not a patient there.
Public Option = gov. rules
gov. rules = VA type care.
Be careful what you wish for.
Reform Health Insurance rules. Make the insurance companies work with us more.
Private hospitals work much better than gov. run hospitals. Why? They are not choked with red tape and political in-house fighting.

ddg: That was Walter Reade hospital which was run by the Army, not a VA hospital. The VA system works very well, as does Medicare, but you wouldn’t know that because you are blinded by “ideology.”

“Should Obama Listen to Bob Dole?” – ABC News
Hell No!
It’s a trap, don’t fall for it NoBo!
If you come out and commit to your Health Care Plan they’ll use it to doom your presidency.
That is unless the plan is actually really good, has stuff like tort reform and would really work while preserving the private health care sector.

we will never get tort reform as long as Democrates are in power. they are in bed with the UAW. and tort lawyers

Gypt? Are you saying that the democrats were lying when THEY said that our returning soldiers are not getting the care they need and deserve at VA hospitals? Remember, the democrats said it.
I’m a NURSE and I know a lot about these hospitals.
ALSO, an uncle of mine got his legs cut off at a VA Hospital.
Also, Sen. Kennedy was a patient at DUKE MEDICAL CENTER IN NORTH CAROLINA.
He use to go VISIT at Walter Reed.
Are you thinking about that?
Democrats love calling people names, and they love saying how ‘blinded’ others are.
Go visit a VA Hospital or talk to some soldiers who were patients there.
Look up Charity Hospital in New Orleans. You just don’t know what you don’t know. You are not blinded, but you need to educate yourself with these hospitals. I wouldn’t wish this even on you.
Look up Walter Reed and see what shape it’s actually in.
I wouldn’t wish this even on you.
Good luck with that.
Why did you even mention Walter Reed? I sure did not. Walter Reed is run by the Army? Okay – then it’s government run, too.

More to chew on, gypt.
Wasn’t a soldier returning from Iraq denied surgery to his destroyed FACE
by the VA Hospital system?
It was considered ‘cosmetic surgery’.
Maybe people yelled a lot, and that poor soldier got his face back. I don’t know the outcome. Do you?
That’s your Veterans Adm. Hospital for you, gypt. This nightmare is played out all over due to the wonderful care a government-run hospital delivers.
The politics at these hospitals burden the ability to care for their patients.
My family has known too many veterans that received medical attention from these hospitals. Do they do good work?
I’m sure they do some. It’s better than nothing.
My husband is a vet, but ‘hell no’ to that.
Did you look up Walter Reed Hospital, gypt? How about Charity Hospital in New Orleans? They do their best, if that’s what you settle for.
Ted Kennedy could have gone to a VA Hospital. Why didn’t he? He should have led by example, don’t you think?

Yes, he should listen, but then will he????

I agree with Bob Dole. At this point. Note there are Democrats getting tons of campaign money from the health care, insurance, and pharmaceutical industries that want to appear supportive of health care reform but quietly do what they can to bury it by watering it down or putting in amendments so atrociously costly it won’t pass. For example, John Kerry has received more Big Pharma money than anyone else in Congress. You know he’ll try to make sure there are no reductions in prescription costs even though Big Pharma would be picking up 40 million new customers.
So, at this point, Obama has to present specific pillars around which a reform can be built – that would allow serious debate which is impossible now because no one knows anything that will absolutely be in the final bill.
