Museum Searches for New 9/11 Videos, Photos and Stories

As we approach tomorrow's anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the National September 11th Memorial and Museum has a new way to look back at the tragedy that unfolded eight years ago.  The museum has launched a website, 911history.org, to collect videos, photos, and stories from people who witnessed the attacks.  They are combining the material in an interactive timeline and map of lower Manhattan.

Alice Greenwald, director of the museum, told the AP, "They say that 9/11 was the most digitally documented event of all time.  We're asking people everywhere to help us tell the story."

The museum has already acquired hundreds of hours of footage of the attacks and the aftermath.  Some of the material is graphic — including images of people jumping from the buildings — but the organizers and some victims' family members say they don't want to sanitize history.
