Quick Fix: Cracking Bolt’s Bolts

User Comments

This report makes me want to be a journalist. Impressive that you can make a living working at home making reports that would make any highschool kid think, “I wish I had made that this weekend”

I love this video because it brings Usain’s achievements from a different angle. But I don’t know if I am wrong or what, but is the journalist putting down Bolt’s achievements? The last part of the video comes across that way.
But all in all good stuff though :-)

You get paid for this? Your show is horrible.

Many moot points, much rather watch Bolt run. You should look into a quieter garagedoor opener with nylon rollers.

A total waste of TIME!!
A wonderful display of miss connections!
Lets study…hooray! Why study? Because Bolt is fast! Hooray!

stupid and not cohesive i will never watch another one of your pieces

So what is your point?
Are you trying to say “Bolt is fast but we are smarter?”
If not that is the way your video can across.

Maybe I’m taking this the wrong way, but is it just me or is he (J. Anderson) making light, very light Usain Bolt’s accompliments on the track. Maybe its because he’s not an American. I believe that your remarks were less than admirable and down right disrepectful. The implication that Bolt is just a “dumb athlete” blows my mind. As a fellow Jamaican myself I felt disrepected for my fellow countryman and do believe that had he been an american he would be celebrated just like M. Phelps.

That was the most boring, pointless thing I’ve ever seen. Neither funny, ironic, nor intelligent.

Anyone notice on the board with the new record how it says “new wr”? Maybe this is very symbolic of how they are attempting to get him to join in the NFL as a receiver…Other than that, he had some good points, but I didn’t like the downing of Bolt’s accomplishments. From the reverse, it would be like saying Newton was intelligent and discovered gravity, but he could not run fast, so he would have been killed by an elephant.

Really Anderson… Is that what you have to say about one of the most electrifyingly impressive performances of our lifetime…? You ESPN analysts continue to shamelessy propel the acheivements of Americas athletes and sports and degrade to your benefit the greatness of the rest of the world. For example, soccer (s’cuse me football) is the most popular sport in the world but enjoys only a few spotty appearances on sports center. Now Usain Bolt has taken it to the world and what do you have to say to your world (espn viewers) is that they’re better off studying because running puts us at tbe bottom of the food chain? Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids…. Listen up, it’s full time you guys started paying tribute to the real accomplishments of the world’s biggest stars and stop being biased. And how do you get a show to talk about people when your greatest achievement has been hosting the dumb show “wiped out?” Your clip really was offensive and dumb to say the least so maybe it is you who needs to study more. P.S. Usain Bolt is an excellent example of brains and athleticism which is a prerequisite to participate in Jamaican sports… No one takes his exams for him…

I would expect better from ESPN, but then again Anderson is a mediocre person who’s sentiments may be echoed by a lot of folks like him. What rubbish!

Did ESPN really post this clip for their many easily indoctrinated viewers to watch!!!

Posted by: Pasquaile | September 6, 2009, 8:20 pm 8:20 pm

Was this Anderson’s obscure attempt at a joke? Poor judgement would be an understatement.

Apparently, John, if you can do a whole story on Bolt’s dubious performances without mentioning steroids, you get to keep your big house with the three car garage. The guy is juiced. Just look at his deltoid muscle at the preview of this video. No one runs a 9.58 clean.

USAIN BOLT TO DI WORLD!!! All haters just like the blood tests are simply negative…

Posted by: rogges | September 6, 2009, 8:49 pm 8:49 pm

3 minutes of my life spent getting dumber.

If anything, I learned to stay in school, or I will be reduced to doing these type of idiotic stories. As mentioned, if Bolt were American, he would be getting the Carl Lewis treatment, but hey, track or athletics is an international sport, and even if he is not getting the love he deserves from “USA” island, he is getting it from all over the world. This should have been a story about Phelps, because that boy is lacking in the intelligence dept; he needs a tutor, speech coach, and a trip to the local dentist office and soon.

This one story may be the detriment of your already dwindling career John Anderson.

Posted by: Kate | September 7, 2009, 8:13 pm 8:13 pm

It seems ESPN made a good decision by taking this nonsense of a story off their front page. When it is all said and done, let’s all hail the greatness on track of Usain Bolt and the fact that we’re witnessing his “mind bending” achievements. This man has ran the fastest of all humans ever recorded!!! EVER!!!

Posted by: Cindy | September 7, 2009, 8:16 pm 8:16 pm

Wow! Sad commentary, however Usain Bolt is simply an incredible athlete.

Posted by: Clark | September 7, 2009, 9:34 pm 9:34 pm

Sorry to offend.
I actually think Bolt’s accomplishments rank up there with Bannister’s 4 minute mile and Beamon’s 29′ 2 1/2″ long jump.
As a former college track and field athlete I was completely stoked and amazed at Bolt’s times. Remarkable.
The time wasting point — which apparently wasn’t very clear — was merely to point out that our brain is still what sets us (humans) apart and above all other animals.
A cheetah at the Cincinnati Zoo just ran the 100 meters in 6.130 seconds. But he’s still in a cage needing to get dinner from humans.
This had nothing to do with nationality, Bolt’s IQ or disrespect.
I have no doubt Bolt is far smarter than he is fast… we all are.
But Bolt can’t run like a cheetah and Michael Phelps can’t swim like a dolphin — we have our limits phyisically but with brain power we put a man on the moon.
Didn’t realize this would release so much anger and personal attacks.
The idea of the Quick fix is to try and give some unique personal take on current events — not recreate Cronkite or Murrow’s evening news.
Will attempt to do better… and like changing the channel everybody has the right to click to somthing they deem more intelligent.
