“You have to learn lessons from history. On the other hand, each historical moment is different. You never step into the same river twice. And so Afghanistan is not Vietnam." – President Barack Obama, to CNBC

“It is far easier for the Democrats to deal with Joe Wilson than it is to deal with health care reform, so they will deal with Joe Wilson. It is so much easier to debate a resolution condemning his rudeness than it is to agree on a bill that provides health care to all Americans without increasing the deficit.” – Roger Simon, in Politico

“When I think of him, I think of being in his arms when we were kids, dancing, practicing the lift in the freezing lake, having a blast doing this tiny little movie we thought no one would ever see." — Jennifer Grey on Patrick Swayze, her co-star in “Dirty Dancing”, who died of pancreatic cancer yesterday at 57

Afghanistan may prove worse than Vietnam. Indeed, the war there may expand into WW III, in the end.

We need Afganistan to keep going right now–probably worse than Vietnam. If it ended, and they all came how (civilians and military) our unemployment rate would soar even worse. The government will keep it all going just for their ratings. Also ince when do we have to spend our $$ on censoring a government official, in a government setting for saying to another government officials face “you’re lying”–but one of the same government offical (albeit the top one!) can call one of us who’s job is in entertainment, a “jackass”. Where’s the censor for that one?? Shame on him!!

“You never step into the same river twice.” That is Heraclitus, one of the Greek philosphers usually called pre-Socratic, who thought all things were in flux, symbolized by water and even more by fire. The president draws from a lot of sources.
