Do You Live in the Divorce Capital of America?

Some time back a firm that evaluated risk for natural disasters found that Monroe County in Florida, home of the Florida Keys, was the riskiest spot in America for hurricanes.  It now has another distinction.  Turns out that Monroe County is the second highest proportion of divorcees – 18% of the residents.  In fact, the Keys only lag behind Wayne County in Indiana, which is the divorce capital of America.

This is all according to the census bureau.

Nationwide the a little more than 10% of those over the age of 15 are divorced. No one is sure why a county in Indiana has such a high divorce rate.  The Associated Press, which reported the findings, cites the rough economy there as a possible contributing factor.

Divorce typically follows poor economic opportunities, and life in a low income environment.
Marital satisfaction, requires adequate financial condition, in a home and family life, for women. If that isn’t present, they will move on.

Hey Rick, while your theory may makes sense to those that go to church it doesn’t hold much water anywhere else. I would suggest that the richer you are the more likely you are to play around which would lead to a divorce. Or if you think going to church will somehow help you repent.
