Those ATM & Checking Fees Adding Up…

Bankrate.com is out today with a measure of just how many fees you’re paying to your bank in fees.

Some interesting nuggets:

Use another bank’s ATM and — on average – you’ll pay $3.54 in fees.

The average fee for holding a checking account?  A record breaking $12.55 (up 5% from last year).

Bounce a check and the average charge is now $29.58 (up 2% from last year).

If you don’t want to pay fees and get nickled and dimed to death, then go communist and join a Credit Union. I’ve found they sometimes lack a bit in professionalism (I think they are keeping my mortgage payment records by hand in a paper ledger), and might lack a few of the gimmicks (double travel miles for credit card purchases at Starbucks and such rot) but you just can’t beat a reasonably run non-profit bank. I do occasionally compare to commercial banks, and for the last 20 years the Credit Union always wins.

Obama has done basically nothing, to effectively control the abuses in the banking industry.
He gave them months to plan for, and institute huge rate increases, numerous new fees, and manipulation of transactions for the imposition of fees, to allow them to “legally” rip off the American public.
His handling of this situation, shows just how little he really cares about the American people.
Just more of the wealthy and powerful, protecting their own interests, at the expense of the average citizen.

Banks (like Insurance Companies) are business’s, business’s make money or go out of business. Business’s employ people, people support their family’s on their salary and so on. Bury your money in your yard if you don’t want to pay banking fees, its your choice, use it more wisely than you did your vote.

Could the right wingers please decide if Obama has “taken over banking” to implement his socialist redistribution of wealth OR has he stood back and let them continue to impose what the free market will bear?
IT CANNOT BE BOTH – PLEASE CHOSE ONE LIE AND STICK WITH IT.
Thanks.

I hate the high fees just like most people, so guess what? I don’t pay any. I keep a high enough balance to avoid the monthly fee, and I only use ATM’s that are free for me to use, and of course, don’t bounce a check.

Yes some banks worked hard to forge rules that screw us better so imagine my surprise when I got a letter from Bank of America saying they would process checks in the order they arrive instead of doing big ones first. The big ones first processing has been around for decades because I remember as a newly wed 45 years ago getting screwed by numerous fees from all the leftover little checks when I goofed on my deposit arithmetic.

I have to say that I agree that credit unions are a great resource…. non-profit, small, convenient, full service. i even had a terrific financial advisor at my credit union.

Well, until now are very difficulties for Mr. Obama to reach something positive against the mayor government burglars because everywhere. Where is money adjudication the republicans are in control and do not leave to stop their 200-years burglary systems.
