WATCH: Is Racism a Driving Factor in Obama’s Opposition?

How about when Bush was called worse. Was that racist?

I am so sick of Charlie Gibson, Brian Williams, and now President Carter calling ANYONE that opposes ANYTHING that President Obama does a racist. I opposed many things that George Bush did too, but no one called me a racist. What color am I? Does it matter? Simply because the current President is HALF black, has NOTHING to do with the fact that he is WHOLLY ULTRA LIBERAL. Perhaps all you folks in the media might want to look at his POLITICS as the reason for the protests. And since when is it RACIST to protest? Does the Democratic party think that they are the only ones that have the right to protest? I am NOT a Republican and I disapprove of the ideas that are being forced onto us by this administration. I protest things that I disagree with. This does NOT make me a racist. SHAME ON YOU CHARLIE, BRIAN, AND JIMMY CARTER for proliferating this nonsense. We won’t even discuss Chris Matthews. He’s prejudiced against anyone that doesn’t agree with him. Calling people that are trying to protect the USA and our rights are PATRIOTS not racists.

Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Ex-President Carter stated that this opposition to the Health Reform Bill is based on disliking Pres. Obama because he is black???
Does Ex-Pres. Carter realize that the majority of the opposition is not against ALL of the health care reform – mostly just the Public Option part?
How in the world does Ex-Pres. Carter jump to the conclusion that this is ALL based on racism?
Wouldn’t the opposition dislike EVERYTHING Pres. Obama suggested if this was indeed based on race?
Or is this just some masterful plan to confuse people???
Remember, the majority of people (no matter who you are) want Health Reform.
We all want changes. It’s the Public Option part that people are questioning.
Maybe Ex-Pres. Carter can write another book on racism in America. This time he can leave Israel alone, and it can be based on the people who question the Public Option portion of the Health Care Reform bill. That book can also be on Osama bin Laden’s book of the month club.

Mr. Carter has simply demonstrated that he is a true “dyed in the wool” democrat, who will accuse anyone in the GOP, of anything, to further his support of the Democratic Party, which is rapidly becoming the Party of Bankruptcy, which Mr. Carter started, during his own very disastrous Presidency.
Mr. Wilson just might be the next President, as while he may have spoken at an improper moment, his words are believed by a great many people in this country, at the moment.
The CHIP program has demonstrated exactly what Mr. Wilson said, in the states with high illegal immigrant populations……they are the primary beneficiaries of that health care.
The Dems hate the truth, though. So, they simply deny the truth. Is that a lie????? In a manner of speaking, it is.

Yes racism is at the root of the problem. How else could it be that people suddenly are enamour with their insurance companies and want to vote against their own best interest. The Public Option is an option and people will pay for it, what is wrong with that? Keep you insurance until they throw you out.

Ex-President Carter hit the nail on the head. I have been in Minnesota, Florida and South Carolina recently and heard too many racist remarks. Sad commentary on our society in 2009.

Freedom of speech, o.k., the right to protest o.k. but what is with neo nazi symbols? How do you go from health care to a hitler mustache? Then there was a fuss made about the President of the United States speaking to school children. We just spent eight years to as close to a dictatorship in America as ever seen before here. Bush & Cheney prevented protest, called anyone questioning the coward or unpatriotic hell even media was afraid to ask questions. Behind your boo’s are bigotry so stop painting over the truth.

I think race is playing a big part in the opposition. I am white, by the way. The conservatives have gotten the racists on their band wagon. It has been done before in politics in order to gain their objectives. To me the proof that racism is a big part of the opposition is the fact that death threats against the President have increased. The health care reform will not pass due to all the distortions and lies and the fact that the rich and powerful Republican conservatives will fight it with everything they have. Some of the Demorcrats are against health reform as well. I am sick and tired of President Obama being blamed for all the problems he inherited from the previous administration. He has been President about 9 months. What do you think was going on during the previous 8 years when we had a Republican administration. I am tires of my intelligence being insulted. I think for myself and don’t believe lies by those who have their own hidden agendas. Politics has gotten too vicious and ugly and because of that this country will continue to suffer but it is not the fault of our current President.

I agree with what most have to say on these posts, race is a cop-out, when the foot hurts we find something to lean on. Race is their crutch, they have no other palce for support. An old commercial about a Tuna Company was always turning down Charlie the Tuna, likewise I feel most people have had enough of Charlie Gibson. He turned me off when he lofted himself high above Sarah Palin, but, stuck his foot in him mouth up to his knee in a big way. If you want good reporting, honest and straight forwad without being afraid of brushing Obama’s feelings, watch Fox, they have it right. Yes Chris Matthews is one smart cookie, MSNBC along with him, Olbermann and their off the wall crew is gone, look at the ratings. I for one along with many friends I know never watch them anymore. Health care is a joke, the Czars and Obama fixing himself to the big Unions is the factor. I feel if things are not fixed, many true Americans will refuse to pay their taxes, then what will happen? DC will have to shut down. I refuse to pay for Abortions. Wake up leaders, or we’ll do it for you!

It is a real mystery how so many white so called Christians can harbor so much hatred againest minorities and illegal aliens. They are worried that the elderly will be left out of health care and told to get out of the way and die, but doesn’t it bother you to deny health care to innocent children who can’t help it if they are poor or if their parents are here illegally. Is it o.k. to let them die. I am a Christian too and that is not in my beliefs. Have some comassasion for those less fortunate and for the innocent and blameless. Hatred is what is destroying us not minorities and illegal aliens.

As a Republican voter for the past 40 years, I must say I am embarrassed by Wilson and his supporters. Yes, they are racial and I am embarrassed that my party is so radical. NOW is the climax of the 8 year downfall of the GOP. Do you ever wonder what it will be like with a one-party America?

I am really getting sick and tired of everyone playing the race card everytime President Obama doesn’t get his way. Ever stop and think that maybe is sits in the same class as Gore, Kerry, Clinton (both of them), and the Kennedy’s. The FACT is that President Obama is a left wing liberal socialist who is trying to destroy the life that we have had over the past 300 years.
Oh, are all the African-Americans who are starting to speak out against him racist also. If you haven’t seen them, maybe you should watch Fox for a while to get a different perspective from ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN.

Why is it that some people remind us that the President is half white, but he himself calls himself African American? Would it speak more to unity if the president called himself what he really is–bi-racial?

Pres. Obama stated that he did not believe that this was all about race.
The majority of people focus on health reform and what is the best way to go about it.
There are foolish people in both parties. We can continue to call each other names, or we can get on with the debate and produce a real health reform bill.
I bet bin Laden and his associates are really laughing at America and how foolish we ALL look at one time or another.

Please, Don’t hate to Barack Obama. So, He will promise to not sign the bill during he spoked to all poeple of congress building. Barack Obama will like to struggle fixing to become very clearing medicine’s reform. So, congress’ senator will resume to meeting in town hall for more clearly explaining of their poeple’s ideas. So, Please Be Patient with Barack Obama will fix up the correct medicine reform. We do like to Barack Obama is better than Ronald Reagan’s strink!!!

THE only Racists are those that report on it, say it, or act on it. ABC is such a loser. Charles was interviewed yesterday on a Chicago radio station, when they asked him why ABC is not reporting on ACORN, he laughed and said “I do not know anything about it” that is because YOU are the old worn out media. NO LONGER main stream, you are not the nofame stream.

Those who insist on using BOGUS accusations of racism toward anyone and everyone who disagrees with Obama’s policies and/or political views are doing Obama and the democratic party more harm than good. These accusations say more about the ignorance and small mindedness of the accusers than it does about the Americans they are accusing! I don’t recall people of other races being called racists because they disagreed with the previous president!

The terrorists most certainly must be enjoying our vicious verbal attacks against the President and against each oher. At this rate they won’t have to rry and destroy our great country as we are doing if for them. Some of those town hall meetings too with people acting like they were on the Jerry Springer Show, no insult intended to Mr. Springer. I wish more people were as calm, intelligent, and level-headed as he appears to be.

Racist? Some may be. But I think the majority of the people are just fed up with how this country has been run over the past few years and are speaking up and taking action and Obama happens to be the current President. I think it wouldn’t matter if the President was white, black, black & white, man, woman or from Mars. The time to take back our country is now.

After a public outcry, he reversed course and said he had the utmost respect for Washington-Williams.
As a state senator, he was an outspoken opponent of efforts to remove the Confederate flag from atop the South Carolina Statehouse.

Whether you want to admit it or not the majority of the White American public is predominantly racially orientated. And highly discriminatorial!
I find it highly commendable that President Jimmy Carter came out and stated the fact the way that he did! Bravo to an Honest American!

Not really. While there will always be racists on both sides of the color line, most of Obama’s opposition has nothing whatsoever to do with his skin color, but rather with his policies and plans.
Jimmy Carter’s outlandish claim that Mr. Wilson was responding in a racist manner, was the worst kind of political party garbage, and is certainly most unbecoming an ex-president, even if he was one of the worst president’s in modern history.
