“World News with Charles Gibson” is Most-Watched Evening Newscast, Outperforms “Nightly News” by 90,000 Total Viewers

 

Posts Best Total Viewer Delivery in 4 Months

 

Marks 5th Consecutive Week of Total Viewer Growth

 

ABC Extends Total Viewer and Demo Leads Over CBS

 

World News with Charles Gibson” was the most-watched evening newscast last week.

 

For the week of September 7th, ABC’s “World News” averaged 7.24 million Total Viewers and a 1.6/7 among Adults 25-54. “”World News” outperformed second place “Nightly News” by 90,000 Total Viewers.

 

The week marked “World News’” best Total Viewer delivery in four months (May 2009) and its fifth consecutive week of total viewer growth.

 

Please note: for the week of September 7th “World News” is based on a three-day average: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. “Nightly News” is also based on a three-day average: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. “Evening News” is based on a four-day average: Tuesday-Friday.

 

World News” displayed the most weekly growth among Total Viewers (90,000) and Adults 25-54 (70,000) of any of the three evening newscasts. “Nightly News” fell to its lowest Total Viewer and demo deliveries in over two years (week of 7/2/07).

 

ABC widened its demo lead over “Evening News” to the largest margin since March 2009 and its largest total viewing lead since November 2008.
