Feds Not Fighting Medical Marijuana
The White House is making news today about marijuana…medical marijuana. The Justice Department has handed down some guidelines that are sure to spark controversy.
As long as a medical marijuana store is following state laws, they won’t run into problems with federal prosecutors. In short, even though there are federal laws prohibiting marijuana use, the feds don’t view enforcing those laws as a good use of time and resources.
This is all a hot topic in California. There are more places to buy medical marijuana in Los Angeles than Starbucks (interesting stat from the San Francisco Chronicle – today in LA there are 800 dispensaries…in 2005 there were 4). Are they all following the rules? The top prosecutor in Los Angeles county says he is going to keep the pressure on — busting any marijuana store that breaks the state's rules.

Once again we see a Democratic administration actually put into concrete action a value that Republicans put on bumper stickers but never into action (states rights).

Good. Ron Paul’s logic is starting to take root here.

Yep I agree too it should be legal even if it’s not medical. Would be a good way to raise taxes and create jobs. I personally wouldn’t mind being stoned through the end of this administration. LOL!

I hope people realize that there are currently people waiting trial with very serious sentencing guidelines for possession of the same substance that you can have legally for a host of trivial medical concerns… SAD! I have yet to here of beer and liquor resolving even the most trivial of conditions… although readily available to our youth.

” SAD ” ,Are you for real? This is the 2ooo years , not the 1950′s.There are real doctors who have said that “Mary Jane” is better at control pain ,than pills .There are other thing too. But,most people think that the government is right, then “Mary Jane” is wrong.Tell that to a cancer, or even a chronic pain person that it won’t do anything for them .

One small step for man…one giant leap for mankind.

Finally, the Federal government is calling off their two-faced dogs. How could they have said marijuana has no accepted medical value, when the federal government has given it to citizens for medicine for over 25 years! Their lies and propaganda are finally being seen for what they are, nonsense!
Come on Congress, reschedule cannabis so patients across this country can have safe, legal access.

One of MANY changes from the most inept and corrupt administrations ever: Bush, Cheney, Abramoff, Rove, Gonzales, et. al. The more things anyone does differently than that bunch, the better.

I think the Government should legalize pot or marijuana. They should also release the about 2 million of our citizens behind bars for petty crime and I think they should overturn all drug convictions entirely. If you turn on the TV all you see is pills for the symptom or a pill for that relief. Yet every tax payer is paying for these people in jail. Our society is being brain washed into believing everyone is a criminal and it’s just wrong. I fear that when this administration ends it will be business as usual for the Feds regarding medical marijuana. The scientific evidence was brought in during the Nixon administration and Nixon threw it in the trash after he found out there was nothing wrong with pot. Our leaders have been lying to us year after year about everything, by keeping people preoccupied with news war crime and entertainment. More importantly, the government keeps education at a distance in order to control the masses. I think if they legalized pot America would take off the blinders and see how corrupt our government has become. Everyone I went to medical school with in America got high and not just a little, a lot. I found out through the years there is a huge difference from the haves and have not’s. Lindsey Loughan can say to the courts that the coke in her pants wasn’t hers because the pants weren’t hers. Or Wynonna Ryder can get away with five grand in theft from a store because it’s really OK. But if you poor uneducated like the government wants you to be the government can send you away for years and no one says anything. Oh yes, the rich and the people who are more educated get high, in fact they get much higher than the average people who can’t afford it. It’s sad fact that America is blind to this double standard. I say overhaul our educational system and get rid of all the idiots in Washington because they are all corrupt. By the way, welcome to WW3. Peace!
