Henry Clay, William Jennings Bryan, and Adlai Stevenson made more than one serious attempt to be president. Hillary Clinton has tried only once. Incidentally president Woodrow Wilson appointed Bryan Secretary of State (the two later disagreed in a major way) as Obama has Hillary Clinton.
