Eggo Waffle Shortage!

ABC’s Brian Hartman noticed a shortage of none other than Eggo waffles.  What’s going on?  Here, below, is a Q and A from the Eggo website.  Mystery solved:

Question:
I have not been able to find Eggo® waffles in the store. When will they be available again?

Answer:
Eggo recently experienced supply constraints caused by flood damage at our bakery in Atlanta.  In addition, we've been making significant equipment and technology enhancements at our other waffle bakeries. Unfortunately, these repairs and upgrades are taking longer than anticipated.

Oh heavens!!! Just make your own, they’re easy to make and taste a million times better than the cardboard coming out of your toaster. :)

I agree about making your own.
And if you think that’s too much effort early in the morning, you can make your own and leave them slightly underdone when you take them out of the waffle baker. Freeze them in ziplock bags, then take them out in the morning, pop them in the toaster, and you have “fresh” home-made waffles. No additives, no preservatives.
I make a couple of batches of batter, bake them all up (leaving them slightly underbrowned) and always have a supply in my freezer.

Also the recall for salmonella I think it was, a month or so ago might have caused the shortage and their ‘upgrading’ and such.

I guess that means that the cost of eggo’s will be rising, just like gas does when there is a shortage

I would be more than a little hesitant to rush right out and buy them up when available. Flood damage at the bakery! No wonder they look like a raft.

OMG. I love eggos. I’m sorry to those who say make your own, but I have two problems. Mine always taste like burnt hockey pucks, I can bake and decorate a wedding cake but not make a waffle? Also, I no longer have a waffle iron. I’m heading to walmart and buying every box I see…. I can’t help it, I love the little yellow disks of awesomeness.

In all seriousness, this is a bad thing to happen right now. Not the fact that it is waffles, but the fact that there is a shortage on something that is in such high demand. Many familes have both working mothers and fathers and opt to us microwaves to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So for this company to be going threw such a shortage that is taking away from business. I hate to see that happen! Good luck Kelloggs!

Dear God…… this controversy about some boxed incorporated product is insane……by some freak accident I am here trying to educate myself on the status of my consumer environment…..having no idea that a mass produced product could produce such a frenzy……we as a society have the imperative to attempt to pay attention to our fixations……our attachments…….our fetishes……and break free from the manipulative surroundings that we find ourselves in…….
