There is no such thing as Same Sex Marriage.
Marriage is between a man and a woman.
When two people of the same sex want to tie bonds for life it’s called Garriage.
Thats G A R R I A G E for you slow learners.

I don’t agree, NOZ. Marriage is a pertnership, and gay people have partners. It’s a team working to make a future. The Constitution doesn’t define marriage, and according to the separation of church and state, which IS an American institution, Americans aren’t and shouldn’t be defined by religion. Shame on you for trying to deny any American the right to form a legal partnership.

i believe that people have the freedom to pursue happiness and if that means you happen to love a person of the same sex then so be it. there should be no law stating that you are not aloud to be happy, especially when you’re not hurting anybody.

==Marriage is a pertnership, and gay people have partners.==
Nobody is stopping them from marrying; men who claim to be homosexual may marry women; women who claim to be homosexual may marry men.
==It’s a team working to make a future.==
So would two sisters.
== The Constitution doesn’t define marriage…==
But law does, and law reflects what the American People think.
==…and according to the separation of church and state, which IS an American institution…==
Instituted by SCOTUS in ’47, not by the Founders.
==… Americans aren’t and shouldn’t…==
VALUE JUDGMENT ALERT! VALUE JUDGMENT ALERT! VALUE JUDGMENT ALERT!
==… be defined by religion.==
Who says?
==Shame on you for trying to deny any American the right to form a legal partnership.==
Anybody can go to a lawyer and draw up a legal partnership. Nobody is trying to deny anybody from forming a legal partnership. Nobbody is stopping those who claim to be homosexual from doing what heterosexual can do.

Gay marriage is coming, no matter what. I will not leave this alone until there is equality.

The battleground is more outside Maine than inside. Aside from a few emotional locals, most of the nonsense is coming from outside the state. The people of Maine are a little tired of outsiders telling them what to do. Marriage equality will remain on the books. No need to change things now. Tourists are welcome, but just don’t make trouble in Maine.

Not anyone can go to a lawyer and draw up a “partnership.” Marriage is about much more than the partnership: taxes, health insurance, medical rights, estate rights. Lawyers cannot alter Federal and State law, no matter what paperwork is drawn up. Legal documents cannot simulate real legal equality.

There is nothing wrong with same sex marriage – so to anyone who doesn’t agree: open your mind, be more accepting, and get used to it. Think of it this way: if there’s something wrong with two people of the same sex getting married, then there’s something wrong with two people of the opposite getting married. AND FOR THE SAKE OF ALL US (especially those of us who are not Christian or don’t believe in the Bible), DON’T BRING UP BIBLE QUOTES OR GOD ONLY SAID STRAIGHT PEOPLE CAN GET MARRIED, etc. Get over it and deal with it.

If a Gay couple wants to get married and call it such what’s the big deal? If they’re that stupid to want to mimmick the boring lives of so many married people so be it. We can scream and holler all we want but, Gay marriage, it’s acceptance and legality is coming just as racial barriers were once the topic of debate in the 1960′s. I swear, we worry about the stupidest things in this country. Chill and let live.

Correction There’s only 29 sates that ban gay marriage. Hawaii’s Amendment 2 doesn’t specifically ban gay marriage but allow the state legislature to enact such a ban. Arizona’s Prop 107 would ban gay marriage and civil unions was narrowly defeated in 2006.

As usual, and it can be seen in these comments, the religious wingnuts intend to inflict their sick beliefs upon everyone else.
Most of the problems of the world, are, and always have been, caused by religion. Mankind will never truly be free until the black mantle of religion is swept away by reason and logic.
I absolutely defy anyone, anywhere to prove how gay marriage threatens anyone or anything other than their own twisted beliefs.

James Smith–Sorry, not religous don’t believe in same sex mariage. Not a religious issue with most just common sense marriage= man and Women. Not a sexual preference.

i agree with james smith, religion does not allow people to be open minded

==…religion does not allow people to be open minded.==
Who gets to define “open-minded”?

==There is nothing wrong with same sex marriage…==
Yes, there is.
==…if there’s something wrong with two people of the same sex getting married, then there’s something wrong with two people of the opposite getting married.==
That’s not what God says, though.
== AND FOR THE SAKE OF ALL US (especially those of us who are not Christian or don’t believe in the Bible), DON’T BRING UP BIBLE QUOTES OR GOD ONLY SAID STRAIGHT PEOPLE CAN GET MARRIED, etc.==
You bring up what YOU wanna bring up, and we’ll bring up what WE wanna bring up. You don’t tell us, and we don’t tell you.
== Get over it…+
When God gets over it.
==… and deal with it.==
We are.

==Gay marriage is coming, no matter what.==
It’s already here.
Men who claim to be homosexual may already marry women who say they are homosexual; and women who say they are homosexual may marry men who say they are homosexual.
== I will not leave this alone until there is equality.==
All men may marry women, and all women may marry men. There are only two sexes, last we heard. Did we miss a third sex?
