President Lou Dobbs?

There’s been rumblings of late about 2012.  Not the movie but the upcoming presidential election.  Much of the talk, the speculation really, has centered around Sarah Palin.  She did not rule anything in or out as she made the interview rounds promoting her new book.  But The New York Daily News is reporting on another possible contender for 2012.  Lou Dobbs was a CNN anchor till recently.  Now the out spoken broadcaster (especially when it comes to the nation’s immigration policies) is a free agent of sorts.  It’s unclear whether he will retire, land another job in broadcasting or step into politics.  The Daily News writes today about an interview with WTOP radio in which Dobbs talks about the notion of a White House run.  “Well, I’ll tell you this much — it’s one of the discussions that we’re having,” he said.  "And for the first time I’m actually listening to some people about politics; I don’t think I’ve got the nature for it, but I’m sure as — we’ve got to do something in this country, and I think that being in the public arena, you’ve got to be part of the solution. And I am, by the way, I am reaching out right now to Latinos groups, to the chamber of commerce, the business roundtable, all the groups with whom I have been in an ongoing debate, to try to bridge some of these conflicts and try to find solutions."  Stay tuned.

@Ruby – How closely do you follow the news everyday…and do you ever go to reliable news websites such as this one to further research to get all of the facts?
If you had, hopefully you would actually know that President Obama and his administration has accomplished a lot in this first 11 months of office. And, as far as “someone that is for America [no]sic all the other countries in the world…Good Grief, President Obama has to more countries in his first year in office than any other president and why? He is doing damage control for the way other countries view our country – thanks to 8 years of the Bush/Cheney administration. Our president knew this would have to happen and the he and the State Dept. would have a lot of work to do so other countries would once again respect America the way our country deserves.
I am very proud of our president and all that he has accomplished – especially given that he has two wars going on, an economy that was a shamble before he came into office and although the economy is slowing coming back now (thanks to the president and his team) and he is trying his best to do something no other president has ever been able to do – make significant reform in health care in our country and in the way health care insurance companies get away with what Wall St. did – only on a slightly smaller scale.
In addition to these huge issues to handle, President Obama has continued to push forward additional legislation on other issues that just haven’t attracted as much coverage as the above.
“Mr. Independent,” Lou Dobbs, would have us in worse mess than we had when George W. Bush left office and other countries would really hate us based on Dobbs actions if he initiated the actions he said were needed in his opinionated CNN program and on his radio show. I don’t think “Mr. Independent? represents Independent voters at all. He is way out on the fringe with some questionable followers than even the far right are concerned about.

really?, fired TV anchorman to run presidency. What’s his agenda? He is against immigrant, not limited to illegal. He is aganst foreign countries, sort of liberterian. He is about write a book, to tell us more about himself. He’s smart enough, he doesn’t need a ghost writer. He is rich enough, he won’t need to raise much endorsement. He is too old to land any more meaningful job. Running for president, what not, good for his ego.

Posted by: greg | November 23, 2009, 3:47 pm 3:47 pm

The man has no comprehension of how this country was started and built upon the influx of immigrants: legal and illegal. Then he espouses this non-American citizen nonsense about Obama. A loud voice and a mountain of self-righteousness do not recommend Mr. Dobbs for anything other than the mindless propagandizing for which he seems to have a penchant. I don’t want any more stupid ideologues occupying the White House.

Posted by: Igor | November 23, 2009, 4:24 pm 4:24 pm

Louis Dobbs is a fringe, conspiracy theorist who thinks all of the nations problems are due to one thing: Mexicans. How can he possibly say he has been “reaching out to Latino groups” when his screeds are nothing short of modern day, 21st century racism? Between a no-nothing serial liar in Sarah Palin, an unadulterated racist in Louis Dobbs, a phony and fraud in Mitt Romney, and a jesus-freak in Mike Huckabee, the disgrace that is now known as the “republican party” stands no chance in 2012, and nor should they. Despicable.

Posted by: Awktalk | November 23, 2009, 4:35 pm 4:35 pm

really ? ‘mindless propagandizing’ & ‘stupid ideologues’ the press can and should ask questions about all of these matters. California is going broke. trillion’s of dollars paid for : too big to fail; health care … there should be nothing taboo about asking questions of those holding the highest office. I think Mr Dobbs simply asked the president to address the residency issue and put the rumors to rest so he could go about the business of running the country. I think Mr Dobbs asked the tough question about reviewing the residency status of people. Granted they are taboo questions but not having an effective/efficient process in place by the INS is a major issue both from security and an economic perspective. to declare Mr Dobbs questions as ‘mindless propagandizing’ & ‘stupid ideologues’ is simply laughable.

I’m still hoping Hillary resigns at State in time to challenge Obo the clown for the Demo nomination. Don’t know much about Dobbs but it is impossible to have more audacity than the Dope.

Palin is EXACTLY what this country needs.
Palin is the first politician that actually took office and did what she said she was going to do. She also didn’t ride the coattails of some wealthy/powerful man to get to where she is (unlike clinton, pelosi, huffington, kennedy).
Palin also sold the private jet, fired the private jet and cleaned house of corrupt dems/repubs.
Where is obama’s “record of reform”? Oh yeah, it doesn’t exist. He somehow rose up in the dirtiest political city in America, but he is squeaky clean….
In reality, he was making backalley deals with convicted felon/slumlord tony rezko to secure a 2 million dollar mansion for himself (rezko was also his biggest senate campaign race organizer) and aligning himself with the dirtiest people around like rev racist, bill ayers, rashid khalidi.

Funny thing about Lou Dobbs is he’s independent. Do you liberals know what that means? It means he is NOT going to run as GOP.
Just because someone is critical of Obama, does not make them automatically GOP, or a rightwinger, or whatever else the Kos tells you to call them.

It seems as though we peasants are moved by anything that is advocated by the media. Some of us are not in agreeance with any thing that anyone suggest. And yet, we don’t have a suggestion or an answer. We are pitiful. At last, I understand why electoral volts are the heart of the president election. One might ask themselves: what are the qualities that they would like in a president, and not what nationality. Our forefathers came too this land, or was shipped here. Nevertheless, let’s agree that we are all Americans.

Especially if the dumb run GOP throws up another Palin. Cant believe there are those that think she could even run a country. Amazing.

Lou, maybe you can “get your hands dirty” in politics and as preparation for your 2012 presidential run by co-hosting “Dirty Jobs” with Mike Rowe on TV. Since you just vacated you position at CNN, this new TV slot would be a “natural” for you since you are already used to dirt, slime, ooze, scum, etc, etc from your old show!

Posted by: Sentinel | November 23, 2009, 6:03 pm 6:03 pm

You are clearly into “bimbo politics”. Sarah got into office by promising to pass out some checks. When the money ran out – she bailed! Now that’s a stiff backbone she’s got there! It is much easier to manage a government organization when there is plenty of dough. But when the money ran out, her lack of management skills became even more apparent – again, she bailed!

Lou has been critical of both parties so don’t get your hopes up. Having said that he’s always advocated the dire need for a 3rd political party. Dobbs/Lieberman or Dobbs/Ron Paul for 2012 and he’ll get my vote.

Univision cancels a Palin interview because she was unprepared to answer questions concerning Latino issues. In other words, everything she knows about Latinos, she learned at Taco Bell.
And, now, Lou Dobbs is thinking about making a run.
Both after Sottomayor was appointed to the Supreme Court.

My question to Becky is, why has Obama visited so many countries? I am concerned that his visits – even to promote the Olympics in Chicago – are empty and simply escapist.
We needed a president in the US working on the economy and the job losses.
His accomplishments? You didn’t say….only that he has tried? Tried what? What are the other lesser known issues he is working on? Shouldn’t we all know?
He’s usually “out of town” accomplishing nothing while some news — such as trying terrorists in NYC–breaks and he can be free of the negative reactions.
I would like to know what he has accomplished. We are more divided than ever in this murky political mess and he has been a no-show at work.
Oh — but he did get the Nobel Peace Prize!!

This person is a journalist not a politician. Why would a person with no political background just up and run for the highest office in the land? Not going to happen. To run successfully, he would need a broad section of the population to support him but with his anti immigration stance regarding Mexicans, that is just not going to happen. He would be the next joke..

LOU DOBBS is a patriot, not a liar who would sell out his country like the current crowd in Washington. The liberals have now no clothes on as their european global warming partners have uncovered emails proving the world is cooling and they have lied for over six years. The left hates Palin and Dobbs because they speak the absolute truth and not some liberal democratic or republican talking points lies.

Posted by: Ndubueze Chuku | November 23, 2009, 9:48 pm 9:48 pm

Lou is married to a Mexican is true. This makes me wonder, why does he hates immigrants so much?. I cannot say he is a true American, the only Americans I know are almost extinct and living in reservations up in New Mexico and Arizona suffering years of unemployment, alcoholism and drug addiction. Is Mr. Dobbs related to any of these true Americans? Why is this man so hateful and so angry? Is his wife so hard to deal with that he takes it out all the rest of Mexicans and Latinos? If Lou Dobbs tries to run for president ever, the terrorists will again try to bomb us, to high-jack airplanes and kill generations of immigrants who live in the USA. He will not think twice sending our men (the left overs we have) to war to fight figments of his imagination. The time has come for all Americans to stop those who encourage hate, division and bigotry. We claim to be the land of God, but I never seen so much hate from those who daily quote the Bible and who are willing to kill those who do not look like them or speak like them or believe in the same things like them. This country does not have just one religion, but many and we all came here to practice freedom of religion. We need to embrace those who are here running away from persecution. This is written in the Constitution of this United States of America. We are in big trouble if we think that any fanatic could run for office such as the likes of Lou Dobb and Sarah Palin.

The people (immigrants) of this country are of a new color. It may be an offensive color to some. But its a new color and it will move foward with or without its fear-mongers, racists extremist and greedy selfish few. The world did not end on 2000 and it will not end on 2012, on the contrary, it will begin its final push foward towards what “America” should have always been. Land of the free.
