Susan Boyle’s First Album Makes Amazon CD Sales History
ABC's Christina Babarovic reports from London: Susan’s done it again: taken the world by storm one more time, defying her critics that her success was just a fluke this year. Susan Boyle’s debut album “I Dreamed a Dream” to be released on Monday, has produced pre order sales which are off the charts. Her album has the biggest CD pre-order sales in the history of global online retailer Amazon.com. And that shouldn’t surprise many. The 48 year old singer from Scotland, was an overnight sensation when she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables on “Britain’s Got Talent,” which was watched by over 10 million viewers in April. Her audition set a new YouTube record racking up an astonishing 100 million hits, as tens of millions of fans and the curious flocked to the internet to hear what all the fuzz, I mean fuss was about. The world was stunned and enthralled when they heard the frumpy West Lothian spinster sing like an angel. Her initial appearance caused some to dub her the “hairy angel” due to her frizzy greying hair and dark bushy eyebrows. And people snickered as she stood to audition on national television in an old fashioned beige gown. But her recent makeover shows Ms. Boyle as a very different angel — all smiles with dark hair and elegant dress befitting such a singing sensation. Boyle still lives in the family home, a four-bedroom in Scotland, with her 10-year-old cat, Pebbles. "Just eight months ago, no one was aware of the talents of Susan Boyle," Julian Monaghan, head of music buying at Amazon.co.uk, said in a released statement. "Now, she has generated more Amazon pre-order CD sales globally than any other artist. That is an incredible achievement and is testament to the fact that she has captured the hearts of people all over Britain, America and the rest of the world." Her first album, to be released by Sony Music Entertainment, will include "Wild Horses" (scheduled to be her first single) and "You'll See" as well as "I Dreamed a Dream", "Memory" and "Cry Me a River". Steve Barnett, chairman of Boyle's record label, Columbia Records, part of Sony Music, said: "One of the things that is so unique about Susan Boyle is her ability to touch people around the world. "We're excited that I Dreamed A Dream holds the new record for global pre-orders and that Amazon's customers have supported her album in this way.”

Very cool. Not a vocals fan, myself, but the lady has some tremendous talent, and I wish her great success.

I liked Susan’s performance in September of “Wild Horses” live as much as this track. Her voice, live, had a completely different quality. Thrilling to say the least. This is 99.9 percent talent and effort, and not shallow looks that provide the artistic beauty. Well done Susan!

I am excited to hear that she is doing well. Especially after the disgusting comments about her given by Sharon Osbourne last week. I hope that Sharon Osbourne slips into obscurity as Susan Boyle comes to represent US….simple , plain, unsnipped people whose contribution to life is that we have lived well and kindly and taken care of our own.

Christina Babarovic, can’t you ever give up the negative comments? It’s been 7 months since Susan Boyle’s audition. She’s the greatest singer in the world, the #1 selling artist, and she has millions and millions of fans who are sick and tired of the negative comments from stupid, jealous yellow journalists. None of us look our best without makeup and hairdo; I’m sure you don’t either. So why don’t you just shut up about it.

Obviously, Amazon’s PR department is doing a good job.

Poor Christina Babarovic, a person who is
absorbed with jealousy, ignorance and arrogance
all mixed with a slew of sour grapes

Love Susan Boyle. What a talented and determined woman. She deserves all the praise and sells that will come her way. It is just wonderful that she has come so far.

I’m thrilled for Susan Boyle. After hearing parts of her CD, I’m quite shocked at how fabulous she really is. A unique and beautiful voice, and she’s very versatile.
This is the first CD I’ll be buying in quite a few years.

The first time I read about Susan on the internet and saw the clip of her BGT audtion, I was so moved. What a beautiful voice. I wish her much success. Maybe she will replace Sharon Osbourne of AGT. Rude people making rude and nasty comments is not classy not matter how dressed up you are. Wonder what Sharon would look like if she were presented exactly how she really is.

Yes Susan Boyle has the Voice we have all been waiting for in years. I hope she livens up all this crap music out there. And get rid of all that RAP-CRAP and a lot of those NO-TALENT BUMS that have taken over for the past 20years.

I am getting bored already with Obama that smile just does’nt cut it anymore. He just can’t make any decisions, all that bowing to foreign leaders makes him look weak.

Ms. Boyle is truly such a refreshing and delightful, talented lady.
Our youngest daughter took her Masters Degree in voice performance at New England Conservatory. I have some insight into just how much personal discipline and work it takes to develop the kind of talent Ms. Boyle has.
Just as importantly, she is a delightful lady, as well! Kudos to her, and to Columbia Records!

If you want to know just how beautiful Susan Boyle is, just close your eyes and listen to wild horses as she sings. If your not touched, then you must already be dead and in heaven. What a wonderful talent.

I just listened to Susan Boyle’s album a third time. If you don’t sit with your mouth agape, you are deaf. Her second alburn will also fly off the shelves. The songs are superb. Her bluesy rich powerful voice ranks her in the top three best songsters in the world. I practice medicine in Egypt caring for the US Army, etc. and luckily preordered the album. My wife is in Alabama and could not find an album left on the shelves.
I went now to listen again to her first performance on “Britain’s Got Talent” after some of the hipe was gone. I STILL got goose bumps starting at the arms and down to my toes.
She is no fluke; she performs as a songbird of renowned. As a first generation Scottish-American, it makes me proud.

God’s richest blessings Susan. In a tragic world, one so honest and beautiful to rise to such heights shows the beauty still in most people – that is why you are loved and admired – for your courage and pure “guts” and the way you have possibly changed the world, just a little! Maybe some will look into your heart and see God’s love, you truly Shine in Our Saviours eyes.
Bless you and keep you.

We pre-orded and recieved Susan’s album. She sounds great. I’m a big rock music guy but this is a nice change of pace. As for Jedda, what are you talking about. Bringing up Palin and Obama. This is about Susan Boyle and music not about the president and a woman who quit as governor of Alaska.
