Desperate DC Housewife (And Husband)?

ABC's Stu Schutzman reports from New York: Alas, the burden of fame.  Michaele and Tareq Salahi are “devastated,” “saddened” even “shocked” by the fuss engulfing them.  The unhappy couple, accused of crashing the White House state dinner, joined Matt Lauer on The Today Show this morning.  They said, unequivocally, they had done nothing wrong.  This mess was merely a media concoction — “no question” said Tareq.  “Our lives have been destroyed,” said Michaele.  As if that wasn’t bad enough, “Our lives have really been destroyed,” added Tareq.  “Everything we worked for,” said Michaele, “Forty four years just destroyed.”  Which begs the question, what exactly have they worked for?  (It’s the wine business reportedly involving an ugly feud between Tareq Salahi and his mother over the family vineyard and a complicated court fight with a company owned by basketball star Shaquille O’Neal over the same property). Lauer asked the couple point blank — “Were you or were you not invited to attend that State dinner?” “We were invited, not crashers,” said Michaele. “Who invited you?" asked Lauer. “Certainly not us,” offered Michaele. “We’re working closely with the Secret Service,” added Tareq.  That clears it all up… what a team! And there was the question of payment.  According to swirling industry rumors, the couple bade the networks to “get their bids out,” minimum six figures for the first interview.  They deny it. Lauer dutifully asked at the outset — “Are we (NBC) paying you for this appearance in any way?”  “Absolutely not” said the couple which reportedly granted their first interview to Larry King and then backed out.  So why did they stiff Larry King?  Not clear, but conjecture among some media watchers is that NBC(which owns Bravo which runs the reality show "The Real Housewives" whose camera apparently followed Michaele Salahi to the White House) would be a better fit for them… wink, wink. And, according to Fox news, there’s more.  “The Salahi’s attended a recent awards dinner without an invitation,” reports Fox.  Fox’s sources say last September, the couple snuck into a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation dinner through a caterer’s entrance.  “They weren’t on the list” says the foundation.  Incidentally, The President and Mrs. Obama attended that one too.  There’ll be plenty of “splainin” to do about all of this. The State Dinner “was supposed to be a lovely, beautiful evening,” said Tareq Salahi to Matt Lauer.  A “lifetime memory,” chimed in Michaele.  Alas the burden of fame… but when will their 15 minutes be up?

“devastated,” “saddened” even “shocked”
Codewords for time to write a book and make a movie script. But hey the sheep will love it.

Quite sad that these people cannot defend themselves without first talking to the Secret Service. If they truly did something wrong, wouldn’t they have lawyered up by now?

Has anyone discovered just how Michaela & Tariq were able to post celebrity pictures of themselves with the President, the Vice President and the White House Chief of Staff on their Facebook pages the night of the event?
If their Bravo photographers were not allowed to follow them into The White House, how did they acquire these “highly photogenic” photos of Messrs. Obama, Biden and Emanuel?
Did the White House photographers, perhaps, cooperate with the Salahis?
No Michaela on the voluminous pages of the Washington Redskins cheerleaders alumnae.

What’s pathetic is that this truly misguided and self-centered couple will reap rewards for this absolutely astonishingly inappropriate bid for public attention. I certainly hope Bravo drops them….why reward such horrible celebrity seeking behavior?

“Devastated?” “Saddened?” “Shocked?” My foot. They are eating all of this up and enjoying every minute of their 15+ minutes. The White House and Secret Service need to bill them for all the time it has cost, then send them to Leavenworth for defrauding the Federal Government.

Give ‘em the chair.
That way they will get the notoriety they want.

You’ve gotta be kidding!!!…!!! This publicity seeking couple are certainly getting what they wanted. PUBLICITY….and plenty of it. I agree with the comment that the US Secret Service and the White House should BILL this couple for time and money wasted. Wait?? Whose money?? Ours….the American Taxpayer. I, for one, do not appreciate funding their little White House party escapade.

This story is poorly done but besides that these people are pathetic and should face charges of trespassing. What a stupid stunt to pull for publicity. Honestly, what is wrong with people? And what’s wrong with the media catering to them. Who cares about these two idiots, they deserve the outcome their actions produced. If they had an invitation they their names would be on the guest list. They’re full of it.

For forty-four years they’ve worked… …wait for it…to be famous! Sad, pathetic nobodies who crave attention from people they don’t know and will never meet. But hey, we live in the good ol’ USA where any idiot can claim their fifteen minutes of fame. And we are the suckers, along with the media vipers whose ratings live and die by this ridiculous drama. Show me the invitation I say. Oops, maybe their dog ate it. Slink back into the ooze Salahis. You have embarrassed yourselves enough.

Where are the articles about the people being investigated for their role in the climate change scam, those same people who are being investigated for “overstating global warming”? The scientists in two universities (one in the UK and the University of Pennsylvania). Where are the articles on this? This “climate” movement will cost our country billions, apparently over a bunch of “consenus of science” – not factual science but a consenus. ABC….why can’t you stop being Obama’s lapdog???

I had always had the impression State Dinners had protocol concerning “who’ was invited. For the Indian PM that would include people like the Indian Ambassador, perhaps some Indian business people in the U.S., some cabinet members, selected members of congress, the media, etc. The Salahis, by their own admission, “tried” to get an invitation. That, in and of itself, speaks to their lack of character. It is very tacky behavior. An invitation to a State Dinner is not like trying to get tickets to a ball game. It is an honor to be invited, not something one maneuvers and manipulates to get into. The world now see the Salahis for what they are. It’s time to move on.
