Hard Hit Fort Hood Unit Heads Today to Afghanistan
Today, the army unit that took a great number of casualties during the horrific shootings at Fort Hood, is heading out to Afghanistan. These are reservists who counsel soldiers. 3 of their own were gunned down. The unit could have been held back, they could have been reassigned. But no. The decision was made to deploy.
"I think they decided that same day (of the shooting) that they were more dedicated than ever in honor of the soldiers that we lost and have stood firm in that commitment," Maj. Laura Suttinger told the Associated Press. "They were all very dedicated, caring soldiers and they will not be forgotten, and we're carrying on in their honor."
The members of the unit will wear bracelets with the names of their fallen comrades.

The honor of our soldiers stands tall and proud! The tragedy at Ft. Hood will not stop our honorable soldiers from defending us against the terrorism of 9/11. God Bless these soldiers and their families, and God BLess the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Add insult to injury. After 3 of their own are gunned down by a crazed, Islamic fundamentalist officer, troops from Fort Hood go into battle against more fundamentalists set on killing as many of these decent men and women as possible. If that isn’t depressing, what is? Why are we doing this? If we aren’t rebuilding the country, what the heck are we sending so many troops in for? In the end, the Taliban will still exist in Pakistan and in the mtns of Afghanistan. Whatever schools we will have built will be destroyed and the people killed indiscriminately. We cannot stop a country across the border who sympathizes with extremists and has a completely different agenda than us. We can only hold off the pain for so long.
