Palin & Gingrich Give Obama’s Speech High Marks
USA Today is reporting, on their “On Politics” blog, that Sarah Palin is giving the President good marks for his speech today in Oslo. President Obama spoke of how there are times in which war is justified. “I liked what he said," Palin told USA Today in a phone interview. "I talked too in my book about the fallen nature of man and why war is necessary at times."
Newt Gingrich agreed, telling WNYC’s “The Takeaway”: “He clearly understood that he had been given the prize prematurely, but he used it as an occasion to remind people, first of all, as he said, that there is evil in the world.”
“I think having a liberal president who goes to Oslo on behalf of a peace prize and reminds the committee that they would not be free, they wouldn't be able to have a peace prize, without having force…I thought in some ways it's a very historic speech.”

WOW, two Republicans speaking favorably of something President Obama did or said. I guess the world really is nearing an end.
Actually, I have always liked Gingrich except for what he allegedly did to his first wife (or the one who was ill) because I don’t know if she was his first wife.
For the record, I am really neither a Republican or Democrat. I base most of my decisions on a person; not a party and as I said, I have ALWAYS been impressed with Newt. Can’t say the same about Palin though.

Don – She – Jackie was his first wife and the allegations are true. My other in law taught with Jackie in Carrollton Ga. at the time. He served his wife with divorce papers while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. A real peach of a guy not unlike John Edwards.

that is mother in law lest you think she is an alien. Sorry.

Hey Don…Republicans always praise people who say and do the right thing, unlike Democrats who wouldn’t say a good thing about a Republican if their life depended on it.
You can look back and see many places where Republican/Conservatives have given credit where it’s due to Dems, but there isn’t one time you can cite that a Dem had one good thing to say about GW Bush, even if he was right about something.
So don’t be so surprised. Even people like Rush, Hannity, etc. have admitted when Obama has been right, I’ve never heard K. Obermann say anything good about any Republican, he’s too biased to.

I’ve read the speech in full and no wonder they give it a high grade. That speech is the essence of democracy and should be read and taught in schools across this great country! Most negative posters have not read it, I guarantee it.

He certainly has one good speech writer.

Pain and Grinch like it. That is nice.

Barbara T., I’m sure your assessment of Republicans vs. Democrats rings true in your world-view, but the truth is that Democrats give Republicans their due credit when they deserve it too. The Republicans are also VERY mean-spirited and downright misleading in many of the comments they make about Democrats. I could hardly say the same about Democrats towards Republicans.
Of course, then again, it’s all a matter of perspective, because despite my moderate-ness I lean a little to the left and cannot stand the social-conservatives.

It does depend on your perspective. It’s true for everyone. I see mean-spirited people on both sides of the fence. I see good people on both sides as well.
The speech was great. Now what?
Soldier on, I suppose.

A compliment about a presidential speech from Palin. Isn’t that kind of like having someone who likes canned spaghetti complimenting a gourmet dinner? I mean, nice enough and all that but meaningless. Newt’s pretty savvy for all his moral failings. He’s gotten away with 3 marriages and maintained his place in the GOP after all.

Someone wrote: “He [Newt] served his wife with divorce papers while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. A real peach of a guy not unlike John Edwards.” Yet Republicans love him and pretend not to notice the multiple marriages. Nobody like John Edwards.

@ Barbara T
Sorry but I have NEVER heard Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh say ANYTHING positive about President Obama…however I have heard though not very often I must admit Obermann say something positive about John Mccain for example when he finally ended the nonsense and told a woman Obama was not a Muslim. When Obama ordered the shooting of the pirates that held two Americans hostage Limbaugh made a negative comment about that. So please let me know when they have ever said anything positive about this president.

Hey Jenny,
Seen 2012? It’ll come true with a Gingrich/Palin ticket. You betcha!

I’m shocked, but admit that I think it’s kind of a nice change of pace. I just wish that other Republicans AND Democrats could start doing more of the same and start complimenting each other (when they really can) instead of always being so dammed (misspelled on purpose in hopes of avoiding censure) adversarial all the time. Not a fan of either Palin or Gingrich, but think this is a good thing that all people involved in politics should practice more often.

Surprised so many libs are listening to conservative shows. I guess that’s how they get all the great ratings.

There is no question, that Obama presents speeches well. That is the “Hollywood” in him.
However, that “Hollywood” acting, is not going to solve our problems. This may be a short movie.
