Quotes of the Day: ‘I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions’

“America, we are passing through a time of great trial. And the message that we send in the midst of these storms must be clear: that our cause is just, our resolve unwavering.” – President Obama, in his speech to the nation about Afghanistan

“For those who still support the war, he is sending more troops. For those against it, he is offering the assurance of the exit ramp. Yet his answer to perhaps the most vexing decision to confront him yet in his presidency is one that may frustrate both sides more than it satisfies them.” — Peter Baker and Adam Nagourney, in The New York Times

“Fully support the President's strategy for Afghanistan. Ready to EXECUTE.” – Joint Chiefs Chairman Mike Mullen, in a “tweet” message

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect…But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy…Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.” – Tiger Woods

100% right Mr. Woods.
I think the loss of endorsement money as a result of the sins is punishment enough.
No need to drag the man over the coals.

He doesn’t owe us an explanation. Those words should go only to his wife and someday his children.
Now the hard work begins.

TIGER IS NOT A POLITICAL FIGURE–HE IS A ATHLETE. WHAT HE DOES OR NOT DO IS NOT MY BUSINESS OR ANYONE’S ELSE. ONLY POLS DESERVE MY ATTENTANESS.

We have become a nation obsessed with the lives of celebrities and athletes. We should leave them alone! Their personal lives are none of our business. That’s what personal means! I am sick of the people on the 24 hr. news channels acting like this is something they should be reporting. How about talking about the real problems in the world. I guess they need gossip to keep the machine going.

For one thing, Tiger has enough character and ethics to admit fault rather than to say like Bill Clinton, “I never knew that woman” (under God-sworn oath).
Admitting a problem and pursuing the answer for that problem is extremely noble.
As far as the media hype, I would like to hear ‘the dirt’ on the media – that sits in moral judgement over everyone else. Jesus referred to some of the hipocrites in His day- “you make impossible rules for everyone that you do not even keep.” They probably, like today’s media, probably did not even try to keep the rules while condemning others. Hipocrites any one?

Please get this off the news. It’s painful and trivial really and there are many more important things to paw over in the news/entertainment circles. I wish this had been left alone from the get go. I don’t care or need to hear all the salacious details. For those who think they do…Get a Life! your own life!

If I were to count the many “regular” people who do just the same and do not make the news…Tiger’s situation is meaningless.. People will still pay to see good sports period.

One guy cheats on his wife and the world has to endure the whining for weeks.
Global warming scientists cheat the world having consequences which might affect the entire world for centuries, and the news media won’t even mention the story.
Have some integrity ABC.

I believe Tiger should apologize to the world.
He and his “PR” team has presented this image of a “Well Rounded” person. Who had family values and worked hard to become the name that he is.
I believe that he has sent a false image of himself.
There are millions of people that had a great respect for the image that he portrayed of a hard working african american that had family values.
He failed his family.
I wonder why it is that people who cheat of their family’s never think they’ll get caught. And when they do that they should be protected. He should be called out on his uncaring, selfish, self serving behavior.
There are many who are disappointed in the poor choices that he made. His poor choices have now affected his whole family.
What a shame!
