Death by Lottery? A Shakespearian Tragedy
We've just gotten word that authorities in Florida may have discovered the remains of missing lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare. His complicated tale — a common man who won instant lottery riches, only to become a target for his money — was featured in Monday's show. Tampa Bay Online reported less than an hour ago, "The search for missing Lotto winner Abraham Shakespeare may be over. Authorities announced this evening that they have found human remains beneath a concrete slab under the house near Plant City where they have been searching for days." Authorities say it appears the body, the identity of which has not been confirmed pending autopsy, has been there for some time. We'll have an update tonight. Embedded below is Monday's report, which raised disturbing questions about what may have happened to Shakespeare, and who may have been involved. UPDATE: Authorities today used fingerprints to confirm that the remains do, in fact, belong to Abraham Shakespeare. The investigation is ongoing.

so sad. In this day/age we live in, I think its wrong to post pictures of lottery winners or have them on TV. Its not safe. I’m not sure what the background of the story is but the Lottery commission really should re-think using images of winners. Yes, I know they want to promote their product but it really isn’t safe for the winners. At least if they just post a name and its a common name, bad guys won’t be able to find the winner that easily.
My prayers go out to the man’s family and friends for their loss.

How very tragic and my sympathy goes out to Abraham Shakespear, his family, and his friends. Sounds like Mr. Shakespear was a very generous and trusting man and encountered some really ugly folks who not only wanted his money but killed him to get it!! I hope authorities have frozen “dee dee’s assets”. I also hope they have an ankle bracelet on her so they know of her whereabouts at all times. Just from reading several of these articles, I believe she and her boyfriend were in cahoots. The house where the remains were found belong to dee dee’s boyfriend. Interesting that the attorney who represented Mr. Shakespear is leasing and living in the same house! Poor man didn’t really get to enjoy his winnings but fell prey to some very nasty and greedy people. RIP Mr. Shakespear and my our Lord wrap you in His ever-loving arms

I disagree, this was not a “death by lottery”; it was a death by very selfish, greedy, and evil people!! They killed him and stole his winnings! These people should be charged with everything possible, i.e. kidnapping, murder, possession of grand larceny, and get the death penalty. To future lottery winners, be very careful with whom you associate, especially those who “hang on” to you although you have never known them before. Your friends and family might ask you for money but they will NOT kill you for it!

Lotteries should be abolished. That would end these tragedies. The various state and local governments do not belong in the gambling business. Lotteries are a symptom of just how low brain-dead governments have sunk in their greedy quest for money.

I believe the Lottery Commission should provide free of charge comprehensive financial and personal life counseling to all grand prize winners.
Such a tragedy to Mr. Shakespeare and my thoughts and condolences go out to his mother and family. When folks with similar backgrounds such as his who have had a life of struggle and hard work all of a sudden become so wealthy beyond their ability to hold their own ground and comprehend their new station in life there becomes an immediate need for them to be extensively counseled.

Yeah, right, Rex… He STOLE the ticket, and then gave $10 million away to people… thieves always act like that. What an idiot. Fact: The guy he worked with TRIED to claim it was his ticket, and the courts dismissed that claim. Based on the man’s generosity, it’s highly unlikely that he would have stolen the ticket.
I think lotteries prey on desperation and greed. The government (and the dirty company that got the contract) get the money, dole out a portion of it, and then the government takes more than half of it back again in taxes? Bull-hockey!
Mr. Shakespeare, you were a very good man, too good for this world. May you find joy and peace now.

Abraham Shakespeare was a very good man. He gave more than he recieved. Dee Dee Moore, her boyfriend and the attorney will all reap what they have sowed. God will exposed all of the people who was involved in this homicide. We live in a wicked world. How could people be so trifling? The devil is out to kill, steal and destroy. The devil convinced Dee Dee and her counterparts to plot and set a trap for Abraham.Unfortunately, their is no perfect crime. But the story will end with Dee Dee, the Arab and the unethical attorney losing everything for the love of money they have worked so hard for. Dee Dee can be a broke-lesbian, the Arab can be a doctor and the attorney can give advice to his fellow inmates.I pray that God have mercy on them. And I also pray thet justice be done to each and every person that was involved.

She was writing a book about him, eh? I think she should write a book about herself, explain how she lost sleep, how her greed bloomed and consumed her after the man gave her a million dollars and sold her his house for $300,000 under the markets value. Her last name is Moore. That’s fittingly appropriate.
