ABC News reported tonight on a landmark settlement involving lead, discovered in some purses from well-known stores.  The Center for Environmental Health tested purses from 100 of the nation’s top retailers and found, what it says were disturbingly high levels of lead.

Doctors say the greatest concern with lead is exposure to children, pregnant women and women of childbearing age.

The CEH reached the first ever settlement with stores to legally limit lead in bags they sell.  Now the group hopes to reach a similar deal with dozens of other major stores and suppliers.
