Goodness, gracious. Rep. Henry Waxman, chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a hearing in February about "sudden unintended acceleration" in Toyotas that have led to at least 19 deaths, according to the NTSB. “Like many consumers, I am concerned by the seriousness and scope of Toyota’s recent recall announcements,” Waxman said in a statement today. The congressional hearing follows a pair of massive safety recalls, the suspension of sales on eight separate models, and several reports by Brian Ross and his Blotter team, including this original report all the way back on November 4. And safety experts say still no real clear answer from the world’s No. 1 automaker.
