Last night, Andrea Canning introduced you to Markus Bestin, America’s first legal male prostitute in the world’s oldest profession in what anchor Cynthia McFadden introduced as a rather “dubious” Sign of the Times. In today’s New York Post, reporter Mandy Stadtmiller, pictured on the cover with Bestin, delivers a Reporter’s Notebook titled "My Night With a Prosti-Dude" after visiting the Shady Lady Ranch as a paying customer. “Who would hire the first legal male hooker in the country?” she writes. “A desperate spinster? A lonely divorcee? A New York Post reporter on undercover assignment? Answer: All of the above.” To us, the former Marine compared himself to historical trailblazers like Rosa Parks and Gandhi – breaking into what has been traditionally woman’s work at $500 for two hours. To Stadtmiller, he added Lady Gaga, Vincent van Gogh and Moby by way of comparison for his eccentric performance artistry. You’ll have to read Stadtmiller’s review to see just how far she pushed this Gonzo journalism. And check out her photos from inside the brothel here. Our Sign of the Times embedded below.
