If you live in Lower Manhattan and are interested in seeing a debate about a provocative topic that will later air on our show or getting a behind the scenes look at television production, you still have time to get to the Great Hall at The Cooper Union. The topic of our fifth Face-Off debate? Is it okay to be fat? At 4 p.m., Juju Chang will moderate (originally Cynthia McFadden to host, but she is in Haiti today) a panel that will include, on one side, advocating against constant dieting and arguing you don’t have to be thin to be healthy: Crystal Renn, model and author of “Hungry: A Young Model’s Story of Appetite, Ambition and Ultimate Embrace of Curves,” and Marianne Kirby, co—author of “Lessons from the Fat—Sphere.” And on the other side, advocating against an obese America and in favor of responsible dieting: MeMe Roth, president of the National Action Against Obesity and Kim Bensen, author of “Finally Thin.” Taping will probably take about an hour and a half or so. The debate is currently scheduled to air February 22. Thanks to @corinnamakris for the photo below.
