Fox and the Panda: If Porn Works for Them…

FoxNews.com sex columnist Jenny Block may or may not have seen our segment on how pornography is helping the panda population in China earlier this week, embedded below and blogged about here, but she does write about the topic in her "Fox on Sex" column today.  "Seems to me, it might now be a bad idea to take a page from the note panda scientists," she writes. "Pandas are responding very well to the audiovisual materials that are being shared with them. I don't see any harm in a little inspiration of the human variety." Block goes on to present her case for the merits and drawbacks of porn — and the important differences between panda porn and people porn, a topic that we also recently covered.

GOOD IDEA

what did they expect anyway, when they removed them from their natural environment with little or no human interference? surround most any couple with strange, raucous human activity and they will seek a quieter more natural setting. their confinement suits only the captors, the captors destructive demise of natural territory and eventual obliteration of anything deemed ‘non-human’.

Dude – pandas would be extinct were they not in captivity.

Dude – pandas would be thriving if humans hadn’t caused them to go nearly extinct through our perilous journey of greed.

That’s is the most depraved think I have read in a long time. Pandas are innocent animals, showing them porn shows how sick we have become. I would think Disney or other suitable G rated shows would be good for them. Maybe cartoons if they aren’t too violent and the Pandas don’t just set, eat junk food and watch them all day, for crying out loud!

How is that depraved? What makes you think Pandas like disney movies? A suitable G rated show? Your joking right? Jesus Freaks are weird group of people… Sit em down and let em watch some G rated movies for petes sake! LOL…. How sick we have become? Dude your post is a perfect post of how brain washed our society is now days….

Uhhh… Ok, interesting story, yes, but…
Is ABC reporting this as more of “hey watch this video” story?
…Or more of a “NO UR NOT 1ST I WUZ!”?
“GUYZ IM SRS! RLY!!! LSN 2 ME!!!”

We keep interfering with nature. These animals should have their own protected habitat and left alone. No need to manage their sex lives. If they survive, great, if they perish as a species, let’s respect it may have been nature’s wish.

brian is the man
jupiter, while i get the gist of what youre saying, it is totally unrealistic to set up “their own protected habitat” and then leave them alone and expect that natural selection will work its magic. do you mean just the wild ones? or the ones who have been born and raised in captivity like these that need porn just to show them how to reproduce? just leaving them to die and thinking its acceptable because we gave them a protected ‘natural’ habitat to go extinct in is a bit twisted. Of course, the root of this problem is, as brian mentioned, our “perilous journey of greed,” in which humanity has too often sacrificed the harmony of earths ecosystems in exchange for a short term sense of security, whether in the form of resources or land.
baby pandas are soooooo cute- we should definitely encourage this type of behavior. but seriously humans, what is our end goal with these ‘zoos’ of ours? Do we think it’s bad to let a species go extinct just because it is the fault of humans? Perhaps it is worse to let more species go extinct while ignoring the reason we have most ‘endangered species’ in the first place.
Maybe theyre on to something. Maybe if we show humans videos of people recycling or where the wood in their coffee table comes from we could keep our own species around a little longer and save a few others to chill with.

Too bad some groups of Americans didn’t have libido issues…..

Well THIS is certainly fodder for the water cooler crowd!

1st, it isn’t porn because pornography means “prostitute writing” and only humans can be prostitutes.
2nd,the goal of this project is to produce little pandas.
If promiscuity results in pregnancy, the little person is almost always unwanted, and often killed.

Panda Porn is Awesome!

Posted by: Cornelius | March 20, 2010, 12:41 am 12:41 am

This story would imply that sex is a learned behavior for Pandas. If sex is a learned behavior I would guess that Pandas in the wild must be watching other Pandas having sex. Somehow, in captivity, that part of their development has been altered. I wonder whether the males have lost their sex drive or whether they just don’t know how to do it. One side note: human porn definitely gets me and the wife in the mood so why shouldn’t it work for animals?

If this is successful, in 10 years we’ll be debating panda abortions, panda implants, and there’ll be a panda porn awards show in Las Vegas in the beginning of January every year….

Please fix the typo. I’m sure the correspondent did not mean “it might now be a bad idea,” I’m pretty sure she must have meant “it might not be a bad idea.” It was confusing.

I’m still unclear. are they being shown Pandas’s getting it on (ok, I guess) or people having sex (yuck!)

I wonder if they run a cheesey 80′s sound track in the background…? I hope so!

: Chris | Mar 6, 2010 3:16:41 PM……..what is depraved is standing by and doing nothing and watching the species die out. Surely it is a lot better yo encourage them to do what comes naturally then submit to artificial insemination procedures. This is porn for survival sake. Apply some context instead of moral highbrow.

Who cares about pandas. At the moment, they don’t even have a real impact on their ecosystem. Mother Nature would not miss them.

guess how the vets induce pets and other breeding livestock to donate their sperm.
whatever works baby.
