Jayson Williams’ Attorney: ‘Case Finally Over’
ABC News’ Brian Cohen reports:
I just spoke to Former NBC star Jayson Williams’ attorney Billy Martin after the five year prison sentence for his client was announced. Martin told me that “Jayson is pleased to see closure in this case and has been remorseful from the start for this tragic accident.”
Martin told me he was pleased with the agreement made by all parties for Williams to plead guilty and to serve his sentence, adding that “[William’s] going to take this one day at a time, and now that he’s serving his time in prison he can hopefully deal with his problems.”
Martin also noted that “ the only thing Williams wants from this is that his daughters will be ok while he’s away, and his family will be taken care of.”
Christopher Adams, another member of Williams’ legal staff observed that there was a mixture of emotions for Williams today, “He was more at peace, was able to know that this is finally over and at the end of it, he can now breathe.”
Williams was sentenced to five years in prison for the fatal shooting of his limo driver Costas Christofi back in 2002.
