Throwback Thursday: Laptops Are Popular

In honor of Apple’s iPad launch last week and to celebrate my brand new laptop, we salute the rise of the personal, portable computer in the debut of a new “Where We Fit” series I’m calling Throwback Thursday. Embedded below is a report from February 11, 1989 by Ned Potter, who details the expanding use of laptop computers. I’d say the product is here to stay, though getting smaller and faster (and more tablet-like?) by the day. It's a time warp – from Brit Hume introducing the segment to that ridiculous machine. There is so much rich material in the vaults here at ABC News. If there is anything from our archives you would like to see, feel free to ask and we’ll take a look.
