Doctor Suspended After Spa Liposuction Death

Wanted to post this Andrea Canning report from last night, "Spa Mistreatment," about 37-year-old Rohie Kah-Orukotan, a mother of three pictured above who died after a liposuction procedure at a Florida MedSpa went horribly wrong. Since her death, the doctor who treated her, Dr. Omar Brito, has had his license suspended by the state's surgeon general and was called "an immediate danger to the public."  Brito had received just 18 hours of plastic surgery training before he started performing these procedures. Questions were also raised about the use of powerful narcotics without proper supervision. Brian Bieber, Dr. Brito's attorney, says his client "followed the letter of the law," both in terms of training required in the state of Florida and during the procedure. The segment also offers a more general look at the billion-dollar spa industry, and how more aggressive treatments — once found in hospitals — are being offered alongside tanning and manicures. The results are not always as desired.
