First Joe Stack, Now John Patrick Bedell

Two weeks ago, it was Joe Stack and his suicide-by-plane, as he piloted a small aircraft into the side of an IRS building in Texas. Last night, it was John Patrick Bedell, pictured on the left, and this time, a suicide-by-security guard as he allegedly started shooting in a screening area at the entrance to the Pentagon and was killed by return fire.  The two men, it appears, shared a distrust and resentment toward the government — and an interest in the Internet. Like the ranting suicide note/manifesto that Stack posted on the Web, we already are finding digital clues to help explain Bedell's motive, including possible Sept. 11 conspiracy theories and anger over anti-marijuana laws and previous bust. Embedded below is last night's Block 4, at which point we did not yet know the suspect would die from his wounds.

This guy was hardly “right-wing.” He was anti-military, pro-pot and didn’t believe Islamic extremism was behind 9-11.
People on the right are generally pro-military, anti-pot and believe our major world challenge is the war on Islamic terrorism.
It seems convenient that liberals seem to identify everyone who does something nutty as “right wing.”

Looks like a 911 truther that hated Cheney, grew pott, was arrested for it in the past and was probabaly under its influence/delusions when he did it.

PAUL: You OBVIOUSLY don’t have a clue what you are talking about. This guy is a cultish Von Mises Institute far-right Free Marketer. Perhaps you should know what you are talking about before you try to school “liberals” on reality.

Also, PAUL: MANY on the Far-right are extreme economic libertarians and socially libertarian (therefore, they are pro-pot). That you do not know this telling…..many libertarians are Tea Partiers…..

This guy was against the military and thought Bush had something to do with 9/11 Hummm. Hey this guy sounds more and more like a LEFT wing nut

“The Onion” had a joke story a few years back about helping schizos by imbedding messages in radio transmissions, books, newspapers, and having helpful government operatives follow them around.
More crazy people (whether “rightwing”, Islamist,”leftwing”, drugged up, or plain “crazy”) are going to go even more crazy when the government starts buying into their theories and making statements that they are the main threat. Take already paranoid minority of people and then start policies like: CCTV cameras everywhere, RF id tagged licenses and passports, email/cellphone tapping everyone, automatic license plate readers, health “czars” having access to all your personal health information, secret courts, secret prisons, free speech zones, gun grabs, etc! Logicially do you think some of paranoids will start to “act out” especially in times when the economy is crashed and taxes, fees, and fines are rising?

Dear no name, you couldn’t have said it better, not to add a number of other things that are going on in this country including the private and public sectors. And I believe you’ll see more and more of these acts going on in the future.

John Patrick Bedell and Joe Stack had more in common than the media seems willing to state. They were both techies from California. Both probably have had their job security/livelihoods thrown into shock since the H1B/L1 outsourcing/insourcing visas came into play. Thank Microsoft, Oracle, Whirlpool, et al, for their small contribution to the rise in terrorist activity? Maybe?

Grow up and abandon this left-wing vs. right-wing debate, people.
Look at Obama. His administration is very similar to that of Bush. How many promises of his campaign has he broken so far? The slight differences is intended just to keep people like you entertained and debating each other.

It is pretty obvious this “target of opportunity” is being used by ABC and it’s competetors to further demonize and marginalize all of us who are willing to look at reality. They would have us believe longstanding mental issues did not have as much to do with this guy’s actions as being a 9/11 Truther or using medical marijuana within the law.
To anyone who is willing to look at the evidence, it is clear that the government’s “conspiracy theory” on 9/11 is patently false. I recommend to all honest people who believe the goverment’s tale of two towers and a pentagram the video, “Core of Corruption” which is available on Google video. It is almost exclusively clips of mainstream media coverage on the morning of September 11, 2001, and CSPAN clips of Congressional hearings that confirm the disinformation and coverup of the facts surrounding the ruthless attack. What we have been conditioned to remember is NOT what happened.
But a warning: Telling the truth in an age when everyone is lying is a radical act. You might find yourself labeled an extremeist, nutbag, wingnut, tin foil hat, or TERRORIST. On the plus side, based on the Department of Homeland Security’s criteria, being called a potential terrorist is a compliment to any moral, freedom loving American.

The IRS attacker hated George Bush and the catholic church; he praised socialism and Obama Care. The Pentagon attacker hated George Bush and the military. Amy Bishop was a major Obama supporter.
But, according to liberals, we are to believe all three of these people are radical right wing extremist! They sound more like radical left wing extremist too me!
But of course, there is no such thing as a radical left wing extremist! If you’re a radical and an extremist, your automatically right wing!
The idea that left wing extremist even exist just won’t support the liberal media’s agenda; so any extremist has to be right wing.

Boy, this well-worn narrative of Joe Stack’s well-articulated suicide note sure is getting old. Maybe some of these so-called “bloggers” ought to get rid of their computers and get an education. It’s clear they spend far too much time typing and far too little reading.

Strange. So weird. Far out. Barely rarely do you think it will happen and then it does.

They “shared a resentment towards the government and an interest in the internet.” That’s like writing nothing at all. It’s like writing that two guys in the sixties shared an interest in rock and roll, and the fear of being drafted. How can you make them alike, except in their misery? While rock and roll took the edge off the fear of death in a jungle for nothing, the internet clearly offers the pleasure of being remembered and played back, in a world going nowhere for most people. I personally think rock and roll was more fun.

Tom — some of us get it that just because John Brown was an abolitionist, it doesn’t make slavery any better because he happened to be a “fanatic” (to quote Lincoln). Let them wonder which of us are on to them. I suppose that is why the airport scanners are coming on line. They just trust us less and less, with or without the “nuts”. Cast your mind back a decade or so and imagine anyone trying to put the American public through the kind of crap that represents. Oh well – 9/11 “changed everything.” They wish. Reality is.

I believe, for the most part, that what Paul wrote is worth repeating. Please folks, don’t immediately trust the media like a good little sheep and investigate things on your own from time to time.
