More Scientology Defectors Alleging Violence

In October, Martin Bashir delivered in-depth reports about the Church of Scientology over two nights, investigating its secretive ways and celebrity appeal, as well as allegations by some former members that leader David Miscavige struck members of his senior staff.  Miscavige is pictured above with the most high-profile Church member, actor Tom Cruise. It is a thread that the St. Petersburg Times — the paper of record near the church headquarters in Florida — has needled at for years, breaking several major stories along the way. Yesterday, the New York Times joined the fray, with this front page report, "Breaking With Scientology," which looks at more troubling accounts from former Church members. In our report, the Church, through spokesman Tommy Davis, vehemently denied all accusations of wrongdoing by Miscavige, claiming that the charges are lies from disgruntled and discredited former staffers. Click HERE for all our coverage on the Church of Scientology. Embedded below is one of the segments, specifically about Miscavige.

Well, I can’t wait to see the Pro-Sci spin on the NYT piece. I suppose they are all liars and bigots too, eh?
For anyone with a somewhat objective mind, you must see a pattern here.
The tech doesn’t work and the cult places little value on human dignity.
Keeping my fingers crossed for the vote in the Aussie senate this week!!!!!
If the vote passes, and the Senate inquiry moves forward…Yet another domino will have fallen.

Scientology will never address the specific charges levied against them.
They rely on ad hominem attacks directed at the cult victims.

as someone who lives in clearwater, florida – the home of the HIVE – i can tell you they are taking over everything little but little. businesses downtown and around the city are run by Scientologist and they make money that is then given to the church. all the little “minions” run around and they all dress alike – just like Nazi’s. they are freightning but will anyone do anything? nope. all someone has to do is set up shop, call themselves a “church” and they get instant tax havens and credits – and do nothing but brainwash the populous. it’s time to really sit up and take a look at this money making, pyramid scheem, brainwashing, LYING “church”.

Scientology defenders have launched their counter attack, quoting “scholars” who state that apostates cannot be relied upon to tell the truth, that they have financial considerations, that they’re seeking revenge.
If I wasted 15 years of my life slaving for .38 cents an hour like Marc and Claire Headley did, I’d want compensation too.
The abuses are real, and no amount of smokescreen thrown up by this commercial scam posing as a church is going to change that.

ABC Nightline coverage was excellent, but IMO, it was just the tip of the iceberg. It’s much worse than you think.
This cult gets away with its criminal activities by promoting that it is recognized as a “church” in the USA by the IRS. This is extremely embarrassing for America.
There is now more than enough evidence in the media and recent books to start an investigation of this mafia-like cult. If the IRS and Justice Department continues to sit on their laurels, then they have betrayed the US public.
I wonder if the IRS would approve them today, now that so much evidence is out there? If they would, we are clearly in trouble as a nation.

Scientology is not a Church it is a cult plain and simple stay away from them and you will be fine if they get to powerful dont worry the ultra rich on wall st. and the bank CEOs wont stand for it and will pay the government to outlaw them and that will be that. Accually I dont know what is worse Scientology or the US government I mean if the church of Scientology got to rich they themselves would be able to buy congressmen and senators and then we really would be in trouble.

It appears that with Scientology they teach their flock how to become control freaks.
Having a alot of little Hitlers all over the place must be their concept of what is an Operating Thetan.
Scientology must attract control freaks

I naively walked in to a Scientology Office back in college during a very troubling an confusing part of my life. Knowing what I know now about psychology and sales; it’s no surprise that they were able to sell me on a beginner’s course, after totally taking advantage of the vulnerability of coming from a troubled family life. I was broke at the time. They tried to sell me on a $900 membership and slowly & gradually lowered their asking price until the sales person got me to agree to pay $35 – with a post-dated check!! They are vultures. I went to one course for a single day and luckily I was wise enough to see it for what it was. However, others might not be so lucky. Too bad.

I met a few Scientologists when I was in my early 20′s. They tried to talk me and a few friends of mine to go to a meeting. We found out they actually pay the church every month to be members. I couldnt believe it. The people appear to be brainwashed. They all dress and act the same. They are very creepy. I think people who are easily manipulated could get stuck becoming a Scientologist.

Getting tired of all the “accusations” of wrong doing. What is not being written is that these people knew what they were getting into from the start. Even the novice Scientologist knows about the “low-pay and long hours” or the “free-loader” debt — these aspects are also well known by novice Scientologists and well documented at the very start of your SO internship. Another well known fact is that: One does not join the SO to work for a company or to make money. One joins as a higher calling, much like joining the priesthood or a buddist temple. These accusations are salacious enough to make headlines and act as fodder for anonymous (both the noun and the adjective) forums but that is as far as it will get. A recent German commission found no evidence of such activiity, Belgium has been trying to find such evidence for over 10 years — nothing, and recently a EU high Court found no evidence of “any criminal activity” emanating from the COS in a case for religious status in Russia. A recent Cal OSHA investigation also found nothing after a “anonymous” complaint regarding the COS ‘s movie studios. The alledged former SO members know all of the above. They know that they have failed their Church, their fellow Church members and, most importanly, their own personal integrity.

Scientology and all other New Age religions are false religions. They are only into it for the money.
Just the fact that the immoral types of Hollywood and music business are so prevalent shows you that the religions themselves are satanic inspired.

first, I would like to say that I am not a Scientologist, but I am a member of an interfaith group where there is a greater supporter and member who is a Scientologist and in fact I am a Muslim. Whether what happened happened it is irrelevant. What happened is a personal conflict between the Miscavige and the accusers. In a court of law he does not have to prove that he is innocent and certainly there is no proof that what happened happened except by allegation. whether it is true or not. If someone does not want to be a part of religious movement or group is their personal choice.

Put down your torches and pitchforks, people.
Unfortunately, it seems to be “human nature” to attack what we don’t understand. Imagine what they would have first said about the Mormons if the internet existed back then.
Scientologists will never write *anything* about Scientology on the web. So, all one sees online are the hostile rantings of those who feel threatened by anything different or those with some perceived anti-Scientology self-interest. Maybe conspiracy theorists too.
Read “Dianetics: The Original Thesis” & “Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought” for a quick and easy foundation of understanding. Or just continue to pass the same bogus rumors back and forth…
Also, Scientology Sea Organization staff members are unpaid volunteers. They get free room and board, and any money received is essentially a petty cash allowance. It is complete immersion for those who want to study and work for Scientology 24-7. It’s not necessarily for everybody. How one could get “talked” onto this commitment and then be all angry about it years later is beyond me. And the debt one owes if they depart early is not legally enforced – just required if one wishes to continue in Scientology. The purpose of this is to prevent people from joining so they can receive free services and then leave.

Open your eyes!!!! Big Pharma has druged millions with their mind altering drugs and makes 100′s of billions each year while doing it, Litracy rates have dropped dramatically creating a population with lower IQ’s thereby making them unable to reason properly,Big Governments AKA “Homeland Security” keyword triggers every phone call you make and every e-mail you send, The Monetary Crisis has destroyed the value of your money, Recession and possible Economic Depression is looming… And you want me to buy the idea that Scientology is the big bad wolf ? Start looking at the real threats to life and society if you dare!

Time for IRS to topple this quasi-religious group which is using freedom of religion to make piles of $ off sheeple.
Didn’t we kick out the Bagwan Rashneesh back in the ’80′s because of his money religion?

Is scientology so scary? come on people. How is it any different than thinking a virgin woman gives birth to a baby god

Posted by: June Bug | March 9, 2010, 2:56 pm 2:56 pm

I would buy a car from the young Scientology speaker. However, the girl was on 3 months ago and was claiming to be a “new member” but now is claiming she was a long-term staffer. The others ex-staffer’s are all lying too – my feel for it.
With all the BS going on in politics & government, it occurs to me that Scientology somehow stands against the destruction of America. I am going in to find out for myself about this, I bet they have a lot to offer everyone.
Scientology seems to be opposed to “psychopolitics” (read about it on the web). Of course they are being made to look bad – they are opposing the dark side – quite simple really.

Posted by: Ken | March 9, 2010, 2:59 pm 2:59 pm

What many of these people should be asking themselves is: where does all this hostility and negativity come from?It is unfounded. Some of these Americans are reminding me of when the Chinese invaded Tibet and murdered monks. Better yet, lets start a holocaust against all Scientologists, that would be real productive, wouldn’t it. Scientology, much like Buddhism, Hinduism, and the true nature of Christ Consciousness, is a means for spiritual liberation. Those of you with so much viral angst simply show how low on the spiritual totem pole that you are. I hope all of you find some type of salvation, because from the sound of it you need it.

Posted by: C | March 9, 2010, 3:13 pm 3:13 pm

Scientology – bah! It’s a social philosophy, not a religion. Where else does one reveal the secrets of an entire lifetime, to several helpers who record it all? Confession in Catholicism is nothing compared to this practice. Does anyone wonder why the big stars of today who are Scientologists stay that way, despite what they may actually WANT to do?? They’re afraid their careers will be ruined by a little snippet or accidental leak of some of these recorded secrets. Scuttlebutt has it that Travolta wants out but can’t leave because of what the “church” knows about him. And no other religion forbids family members from seeing each other if one rejects the “faith.” What a bunch of horsenonsense.

Do any of you realize that if you read all the posts here it sounds like you could also be describing the Morman Church. That darn Cult got pretty big, even runs a whole state and nobody blinks an eye at them.

So where are your Gods now that the world is in so much turmoil..you can call out for any one of the religions gods or devil and they will not apear
or come to u try it if you dont beleave me…what u dont want to meet your god.
Dr s call seeing gods angles halucinations, they medicate you and lock you away with a court order in the united states for that

Posted by: john | March 9, 2010, 9:05 pm 9:05 pm

If this organization is a “religion” then so is the Mafia.
You say these people know what they’re getting into? Really? Do you tell them about Xenu upfront? Do you tell them about your disconnection and fair game policies upfront? Do you tell them there is a good chance they’ll be either physically or mentally abused upfront? Do you tell them about your prison camp upfront?
If Scientology “works” why have so many Scientologists taken their own lives? Why is OT7 and Scientology “Minister” Rex Fowler charged with shooting a man 3 times in the head? Why don’t you deliver what you promise Scientology?
Fact is, Scientology is getting the press they have so richly deserved for almost 60 years. And the press isn’t afraid of them anymore.

Virgin woman gives birth to a tiny god. Love that one. Finally someone says it. Thanks.

Posted by: Hypnogal | March 9, 2010, 10:05 pm 10:05 pm

yep, and a Christian church will tell you all about the virgin birth-upfront and free of charge.
One day people will look back and wonder how governments could have let this crime syndicate operate for as long as they did. It is nothing short of shameful, particularly from the U.S. government. Kids are being abused, separated from their parents and forced to work as slave labor. Of course those are the ones lucky enough to have been born in the first place. What “religion” encourages abortion?
Kudos to Australia, and Senator Xenophon, for calling for an inquiry.

No one is debating the validity of the churches beliefs. personall I dont care what people choose to believe. It is the “bait and switch” tactic the church uses along with its incredible obstacles it puts in front of people who choose to leave that are incontionable. If I decided to stop going to sunday mass at my church, it would be like the priest telling my family that they could no longer talk to me or have any contact with me because i compromise their faith by not being at mass….it’s ludacris. If these policies are truthfully disclosed to the followers at the time of induction, then they have noone to blame but themselves for joining, but since they are painted a rosey red picture and then have everything flipped 180 degrees on them, that is where the problem lies…. Plus, where does the money go? does it go back to the community? is it pooled into a fund to help members in dire need? noone knows… kind of sketchy to me. I can walk into any church and be told the beliefs of that religion in great detail, as a member of the public, I cannot find out anything concrete about scientology without paying upwards of $300,000. tell me now…are they after my money, or my eternal salvation….which do you think is more important to david miscaviage? the beliefs are no more far fetched then those of any organized religion, but their business like practices that treat their most devoted members as steerage need to be altered in order to ensure their survival.

Posted by: Mike | March 11, 2010, 10:57 am 10:57 am

Potential recruits are not told upfront what they are getting into. At first they are told they have some problems and scientology can help. They are then pressure-saled into expensive TRs (training routines). These TRs are LITERALLY hipnotic devices. Look it up. It puts people into a highly-suggestable state that sometimes includes a feeling of euphoria. THIS is where new recruits are first conditioned to accept the odd things going on around them. If they want to continue with scientology they will proceed to “auditing”. In the auditing sessions the person will be asked about traumatic events in their life. The auditor will keep trying to go back in time to a younger and younger age until FINALLY the new recruit starts to talk about trauma in the womb (like we would remember that!) and then they try to go back EVEN FURTHER into past lives. They try to get people to admit the horrors that were done to them (or they did to others) in past lives. If a person gets to this point they have COMPLETELY lost their ability to know reality from fiction. They are now ready for REAL scientology.

Such delightful rhetoric being passed around by Scientology supporteres.
No one is calling for a Crusade or Holocaust against Scientology, and in fact the anti-Scientology movement is completely non-religious in nature. Anonymous doesn’t care about the beliefs, regardless of how asinine or poorly contrived they are. Go ahead and believe in dead alien spirits that are the scapegoat for all your problems in life. But extortion, brainwashing, blackmail, slave labor, torture, imprisonment, coerced abortions, beatings, these are crimes regardless of who commits them.
Anonymous has come for the leaders of Scientology because they have committed these crimes and sustain an organization that is rotten to the core, existing for the sole purpose of generating money for the top echelon. Every aspect of the organization is contrived to generate money, and even their own claims of success are tied purely to the demonstration of material wealth. Giant buildings sit empty as they are refurbished or constructed. Massive numbers of books and CDs are printed and then hard sold to a dwindling number of members who are threatened with the loss of their eternal happiness if they do not comply. After several years, minor edits are made and all members are required to repurchase the new material.
Anonymous has not come for what Scientologists believe. We have come for what they have DONE.

The SeaOrg is compared to joining a monastery or sisterhood by Scientologists eager to shrug off the claims of abuse, torture, lack of pay, and long arduous hours.
There are many differences, however. First, monks and nuns are not used as labor forces by their respective churches. Within the Church of Scientology (CoS), the SeaOrg are the exclusive labor force for ALL activities on CoS compounds.
This extends beyond “Church activities” and goes into production facilities, maintenance and upkeep, and numerous technical areas that members are woefully unskilled in. Even those monks and nuns who are engaged in manual labor are required to be fully trained and licensed in their technical areas and the organization abides by all safety and health codes. Again, the exact opposite is true as SeaOrg members are forced into cleaning out filth and garbage without safety masks, work breaks, or proper training in hazardous material handling.
Monks and nuns dedicate their lives to their faith, but only after an extended period of time (over 2 years) where they must “intern” at their organization and experience it on a trial basis before making the full commitment. It is only open to individuals who are over the ages of 21 and who have received complete formal educations and in many instances a degree in Religious Studies is required. Those who DO eventually change their mind are permitted to leave of their own free will. The SeaOrg coerces individuals as young as 16 with no trial period, utilizes a military boot camp indoctrination process to brainwash members, separates them off from exposure to any aspect of the outside world, and utilizes coercion through the seizure of passports and other forms of identification to prevent members from leaving.
The SeaOrg is nothing like a religious order, instead it is closer akin to a slave labor force that is kept barely alive through the minimum amount of food and sleep (and even then, that can be taken away), and if you are bad you are placed into the Rehabilitation Project Force, something far far worse.

Im not a scientologist, but i would like to say that whenever i watch the videos of Tom Cruise i can’t help but feel that this is a very happy man who must know a thing or two about life.
I mean, he can have almost anything he wants and the one thing he wants is to show the world how GREAT scientology is. That means something.
And if scientology is so bad then why do they keep building all these wonderful buildings? If scientology was bad they wouldnt make money!
And if the Church really believed all the crazy things that people say they do, then the Church would come out and admit it. The fact that they dont talk about aliens and stuff is proof that it is all lies.
PS. Im really not a scientologist, i just wanted to see how disgustingly dirty i felt after saying that stuff. There is no amount of money in the world that could make me repeat that crap i just said. Im gonna take a shower now.
