Obama’s Cabinet of Former Basketball Players

ABC's Nancy Gabriner reports from New York:

When President Obama filled out his NCAA bracket today he picked Kansas to win.

He explained that his choice was influenced by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius – “a fanatical Jayhawks fan.”

Secretary Sebelius is not only a basketball fan – she is a former basketball player.

The Obama Cabinet could easily field its own team of former hoopsters:

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius played for Trinity College in Washington.

Attorney General Eric Holder played for Columbia University in New York.

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan played for Harvard and after graduation played for Australia's National Basketball League.

UN Ambassador Susan Rice played for National Cathedral School in Washington.

National Security Advisor General Jim Jones played for Georgetown University.

And Personal Aide Reggie Love played for Duke University.

(President Obama played for his high school – Punahou – but he wasn’t even a starter).

While obama is attempting a socialist takeover of the health care system by devious means, ABC offers us hard-hitting journalism about his basketball players. Wow, keep up the great investigative journalism, ABC.

I want to remind Diane Sawyer, that the greatest coach in Kentucky basketball history, Adolph Rupp, was born in Halstead, KANSAS and he graduated from the University of KANSAS. While Kentucky has a passion for basketball, in Kansas it’s a religion.
Good luck to your Wildcats, Diane. They will need that luck if they play the Jayhawks

Re: RM Edaps
What is socialist about putting a stop to the devious means that are employed by insurance companies. How did manage to watch ABC News? Shouldn’t you watching Fox “News” or the Republican Channel has my son calls it.

Yes, programs with unsatisfactory graduation rates should be banned by the NCAA from post season play. Student athletes should be treated as students first, not as unpaid employees of a major commercial activity. Although many players have the goal of becoming professional athletes, a small majority attain that goal, and their colleges have an obligation to prepare them for life after sports. It might be fair however, to exclude players who leave college to enter professional leagues. Those players should be encouraged to complete their degrees in off seasons. With that caveat, I’d suggest that a graduation rate more than 10% of the rate for the whole school should trigger warnings and, if not brought above that level, exclusion from tournaments. Secretary Duncan has made a good suggestion, which however should be left to the NCAA to implement if it sees fit without coercion.
