ABC News’ Lauren Pearle Reports:

Jarred Harrell, the “person of interest” in the Somer Thompson murder, was officially charged yesterday with 26 new criminal counts:  2 counts of child molestation and 24 counts of making child pornography (called “promotion of a sexual performance of a child”).   The alleged victim was not Somer Thompson, FL State Attorney spokesman Dan McCarthy told ABC News.

Yesterday’s charges stem from alleged acts that were already described in a Feb 24th arrest warrant.   They are based on 12 photographs law enforcement found on a camera memory stick at Harrell’s home, according to McCarthy.

Harrell appeared in court this morning and pleaded not guilty.

Harrell was arrested Feb. 11 in Meridian, Miss. on 29 counts related to child pornography. The Clay County Sheriff's Office said the pornography crimes occurred in Clay County.

He was extradited to Clay County and arrived Feb. 24.

Somer disappeared on her walk home from Grove Park Elementary Oct. 19. Her body was found a few days later in a Georgia landfill.
