Warren Buffett Stars as Rock Legend in Geico’s Latest Ad

Warren Buffett the rock star?  Geico thinks so – specifically as the front man of the iconic group Guns N’ Roses.

Their latest ad stars the billionaire decked out in a long red wig, purple bandana, leather jacket and tattoo covered arms.  Pretty spot on for an Axl Rose impersonation.

The video opens with an office filled with people lined up in cubicles.  One man begins singing about the company’s devotion to customer service, the rest of the staff soon joins in and then a backlit Buffett takes it away.

“All you need to know we do it all for you,” the singers croon.  “We’re always true to you,” Buffett chimes in.

Geico even makes sure to incorporate their signature gecko – he has a guitar solo as Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.

The story (hype) made the commercial sound a lot better than it actually was.

doesn’t work for me

This is the worst commercial I’ve ever seen. I hope Geico failed to get approval from Axl and Slash, so one or both can sue Geico. Which would save the rest of the world from having to watch this for the months or maybe years it will be ran.

More Buffett, and animated geiko/slash would have been better.. doesn’t want to make me change to Geico

Crappy commercial. Def could have used this “buffet as a rockstar” silver bullet in a better setup.

I liked the ad, and it was cute to see WB in it. Would have been just as cute without him.

They should have had the little dude playing the guitar.

I’ve been a Geico customer for about eight years. Their customer service is fantastic and they have always been good to me.But There commercials are ridiculous and brainwashing. I think the company is going to ruin their good reputation and to be honest, I may cancel my insurance with them, just because I’m sick and tired of looking at their stupid commercials,it’s not necessary.

I’m sorry to say…bf and me go with epic fail. Maybe I am missing something…just wasn’t what I wanted, I guess. Bty, the gieco does not look like the other one…why not more familar, like we know?

Just for the record, this is an employee-made video for an employee meeting. It’s basically just for fun. It was put online because everyone liked it and wanted to share, but it is not an actual GEICO commercial.

I liked it. It made me smile! You go Mr Buffett

I love the guy in the red polo rocking the British guitar! The blonde girl playing the drums is great too!

I am creative guy. This is worst commercial.. even all gieco’s ad. I was with gieco for a year(4 years back) since I was not getting any other insurance. I get letter from gieco to switch back to gieco from time to time. I will never take auto insurance from gieco because premium is so expensive. If you want create good commercial, watch other countries commercials and see how creative and informative they are!

Love the cowbell!! Will Farrell needs to find this guy and do a duet re-make!! Maybe Axl and Warren can bring pair up as well. Hey, wait! Bring them all together, and Christopher Walken can produce it!

Clever commercial…
But, anyone who actually deals with insurance companies on a regular day to day basis, knows that GEICO is most probably the worst company to work with. As a body repair shop, we cringe when we see a GEICO estimate or adjuster and they give their customers substandard repairs as compared to other insurers. All their money is spent on ads like this…………….

Posted by: malcolm | March 19, 2010, 10:11 am 10:11 am

Are they trying to shoot a music video or sell insurance? This is similar to all the other GEICO commercials- they have nothing to do with insurance. Would have been better if it had more Warren Buffett in it but you couldn’t tell for sure it was him.

Posted by: John | March 19, 2010, 10:41 am 10:41 am

Wow, that sure fell short considering how good it could have been.

Posted by: SteveinHB | March 19, 2010, 11:02 am 11:02 am

Certainly different..
Yes they should have used the little gecko. Seeing Warren Buffet was interesting. Silly at best, Undingified at worst. GEICO commericals for the most part are stupid and unconvincing. This one was kinda cute.
Stick with Charley Daniels and Elmer Fudd. Drop everything else!!

Posted by: don | March 19, 2010, 11:54 am 11:54 am

Nice to see Warren Buffet doesn’t take himself too seriously!

Posted by: Steve | March 19, 2010, 12:02 pm 12:02 pm

Reminds me:- time to cancel my Geico. Who needs another mindless commersh?

Posted by: Sgt Lucifer | March 19, 2010, 12:48 pm 12:48 pm

Well, Warren looks a lot like all the old rockers now in their dotage. That was a terrible gecko on guitar. And the whole thing was a bit long.

I am glad that i was not he only one to realize that, that they do indeed need more cowbell.

Posted by: tom | March 20, 2010, 12:01 pm 12:01 pm

yes i agree with previous comments… indeed more cowbell is needed! ! !
and the “lead singer” needs to introduce himself to the world- hes oh so yummmmmy!!! :-X

Posted by: KrisT | March 21, 2010, 7:38 pm 7:38 pm

ok, so this is way to long to be a commercial but its very fun and the song is quite catchy!its nice to see a billionare step out and do something fun and be proud to represent his company! kudos to geico.BTW,are those real employees?? if so how can i get a job at geico, looks like they have alot of fun!!!

Posted by: Pamela Aiken | March 21, 2010, 7:40 pm 7:40 pm

warren def .looks like ozzy!!
omg!!!

Posted by: Big Redd | March 21, 2010, 7:48 pm 7:48 pm

I am a big fan of the gecko, but this didn’t do it for me: 1)What is he wearing? He should be au natural, and be his usual sassy self and way more of him- he’s the star; 2)less of the employees, and for heaven’s sake, can’t they smile a little? 3) as for Warren Buffet, he was ephemeral and it didn’t matter, he wasn’t adding anything to the situation.
