INMATE: Casey Described Using Chloroform

According to an inmate who says she was jailhouse friend of Casey Anthony, Casey described how she used to knock her daughter, Caylee, out with chloroform.  In an interview with WFTV, Maya Derkovic, said met Casey in the Orange County Jail, where the two would have whispered conversations through an air vent in the jail. 

“She would pour it on, like, a rag, like, a wash rag, and put it on the baby's face,” 21-year-old Maya Derkovic told WFTV. 

Derkovic is serving a 30 year sentence for the murder of a teenager for years ago. WFTV reported that Derkovic and others at the jail thought that she would have the best chance of persuading Anthony to come clean about the death of her daughter, Caylee.  

 “She said she used to knock the baby out so she could go party and she would put her to sleep. When she'd come back, the baby would still be asleep,” Derkovic said.

Derkovic also said that Anthony was jealous of the attention that Caylee received from her mother, Cindy.  “When Caylee was born, Caylee was the center of attention, ‘cause she was the baby. It's kind of like siblings. When the new one comes along, the older ones feel left out,” Derkovic said.

Derkovic also said that Anthony was happy-go-lucky in jail and never seemed upset that she couldn’t help in the search for Caylee.

Casey is charged with the first-degree murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony and is slated to be tried for the crime in May 2011.  She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
