This exclusive by The Daily Beast ignited the royal rumor mill. A "high-placed" source who says the first weekend in June has been mysteriously blacked out on the royal calendar. It could be the moment that Prince William of Wales, now 27, finally pops the question to college sweetheart and longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton, 28. Buckingham Palace, of course, prefers to release information on their own terms. For now, they deny the impending engagement. But the bookies are taking bets — and the odds are favorable. Tonight, David Wright looks at the possibility — and how a royal wedding may make sense for England at this moody moment, much as it did when Princess Diana and Prince Charles married 30 years ago.——————— UPDATE: Here is the segment "Royal Rumors" — a pretty solid summing up of what and why. As Cynthia said on her outro, "No pressure, Prince William." Great comments on this post, by the way.
