(RED) Campaign and How You Can Help

More than 20 million people in Africa have died from AIDS. That is why this morning Hayden Christensen stopped by “GMA” to talk about the (Red) and Lazarus Effect campaigns to raise awareness for the impact of AIDS medicine in Africa.

Antiretroviral medicine costs just 40 cents a day and can transform someone from near-death to health in as little as 40 days.

In 2002 only 50,000 people in Africa could afford these drugs that cost $10,000 a year at the time. Since then, through health organizations and political support, the cost has come down to $158 a year and more than three million people are receiving the drugs, according to the (Red) campaign.
