A Presidential Residence for Rent

ABC's Jared Wiener reports from New York City:

Do you want to live like the President?

Well, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is taken, but for $1900 a month, you could go home to an address that President Barack Obama once had printed on his magazine subscriptions.

The listing says it all.  "PRESIDENT OBAMA LIVED HERE AND YOU CAN TOO!!!"

  A Presidential Residence for Rent

Citi-Habitats, a New York City real estate agency, is showing the small 2 bedroom apartment located at 142 West 109th St on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.  President Obama called the apartment home during his junior year at Columbia University in 1981.

The listing boasts “hardwood floors, exposed brick, nice bathroom, high ceilings, big windows," but there is little evidence of a presidential history in this 3rd floor walk up.

“A lot of people have been calling me, I didn’t think so many would – people want to see it,” said Dalila Bella, an agent who is showing the apartment.

But while curiosity may be high, the allure of Obama has yet to drive up the price.  Citi-Habitats says that the renting price has not risen because Obama once lived there.

$1900 a month for 600 square feet? LOL!! Yep, that’s just the right price to attract college students!

It sounds expensive, but that price pretty standard for a 1-bedroom apartment in that neighborhood…

But you will be. I wonder how many TICKETS BP WILL BUY… PROBABLY NONE. They can’t even come across with the money to pay the people they have put out of business.
