Reports to be Featured On-Air on On-Line on “GMA’s” Get-Fit Summer Portal

ABC’s “Good Morning America” today kicked off “America’s Healthy Summer,” an on-going series that will feature reports and information on how to live well and stay fit this summer. The series will showcase everything from the latest fitness tips to healthy summer recipes and medical advice.

As part of the series, “GMA” news anchor Juju Chang will train for and compete in a mini triathlon taking place on September 11. Led by Coach Tom Holland and training partner Lucy Danziger, the editor-in-chief of SELF Magazine, Juju and her “Tri Team,” which includes dozens of ABC News staffers, will spend the next 100 days training for the Housatonic Valley Triathlon, a .25 mile swim, a 10 mile bike ride, and a 5 kilometer run in Danbury, CT.

Juju’s fitness and health program, as designed by Coach Holland, will be featured on ABCNews.com so viewers at home can follow along, too. Throughout the summer, “GMA’s” website will serve as an online portal for anyone who wants to get or stay in shape. The website will feature day-by-day fitness and nutrition plans for various fitness levels, a video diary from Juju on her own progress, and continually updated information about health and diet-related topics. Tips focusing on fitness, nutrition and motivation will also be posted on Juju’s Twitter feed.

In conjunction with GMA’s “get fit” efforts, the broadcast is teaming up with UNICEF to help change lives in Haiti. Viewers can sign up to join “GMA’s” tri team – or make any other personal health goal – and friends and family can support their efforts. All proceeds will go to help Haitian children through a UNICEF relief fund.

“Good Morning America,” the Emmy Award-winning morning news program featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
