Obama’s Economic Plan: Up to the Job?
In a hastily assembled Rose Garden address today, President Obama accused Senate Republicans of holding his economic plan hostage. The president's bill would cut taxes for small businesses, and he said his economic team is working on new strategies for growth. Economists, however, say the problem now isn't policy — it's public insecurity. So tonight we ask you: Does the president's plan measure up to a summer of dire numbers? If not, what can Obama do to put the economy back on course?

I’m confused. The house and senate have a majority of democrats, and Obama is blaming the republicans?
Let’s put global warming aside, and start worrying about jobs.

I don’t believe the president has a clue about what will help small businesses. If he did, he wouldn’t be supporting so many things that have made, or will make, it more difficult for small businesses to succeed.

Leave us alone and quit placing so many burdens on the American people. And perhaps he should vacation less and stop acting like an elitist when the rest of the nation is suffering. Does he know the meaning of the word empathy?

Obama has signed 9 tax cuts into law, tax credits for small businesses in several different forms including to help cover employee healthcare. Get your facts straight.vacation less? Bush, reagan, and bush senior all vacationed more in their first year than obama has vacationed so far in his 2 years. Get your facts straight.

obama is the problem himself ,i know when he was elected all my family could think of was how we were going to save money with this new pop star of a president with no real experience and a gigalo demenor,we had no faith in his ability as a leader and we were right as the majority of americans were. if you look closley you would have noticed that the banking industry tanked and experts were perplexed by what was the cause of the markets tanking also, well it was obama and his radical change theory and then he went over seas and made us look like racist elitests with his appologies for our behavior.i could go on and on but the truth is that if he really loved america he would resighn or allow republicans, democrats, and independants to make the desisions for him. and let his new world agenda which is much like a muslim leaning doctrin take the back seat. we all see it even though the media tries to buffer it with grand editorials about the first black president well i dont recognize him as my president and i fear that the mojority of americans feel the same way. it angers me because this was our(democrats) time to make america more united but as we all can see obama the so called pres. has done nothing but drive us apart and that is the most hurtfull thing! sincerely Ken n.m.

Eliminate All current Federal Taxes, put in their stead a National Sales Tax.Tariff Imports the same as the other Countries Tariff Ours.
Repeal ObaMao Care.
Shrink the Federal Government back within Constitutional bounds.
Repeal Carter’s Postal and Government Employees Workers Act and put our “Representatives” Pay back into the hands of the People.
Or he could resign as he is obviously in way over his head.

as a democrat i have turned my back on obama the so called president. and i think that is the problem americans are coming together and sending him the message NO keep your hands out of our banks major industry and our daily lives we have no faith in this pop star president with a gigalo demeanor and he seems to be ruling with no regard for what we want as americans, so at this point i will support republican opposition to his radical change theory.and i will continue to wait for the media to be on americans side we are a great nation that has gone thru growing pains when it comes to race and social issues but we will get there but im afaid obama has perverted the democratic party and our time to make a diference. just look back when the market tanked and the banks went belly up, it was obama. and his inability to inject unity and and faith in the office that he holds that is the real problem. so for how he can solve it do what he said when i was suporting him and let repubs and indep. have a chair at the table and put his radical agenda in his back pocket. sadly the best thing he could do ultimately would be to resighn as quickly as possible! ken n.m.

Talk about two no-brainer questions.
On your first question: No, Obama’s plan does not measure up. It is a disaster.
On the second question, Obama should:
1. Stop playing all the time.
2. Follow Ben Bernanke’s advice.
3. Delay or permanently cancel the Obama tax increases that are scheduled to take affect next year.
4. Re-direct billions of wasted federal dollars to rebuilding the decayed infrastructure–the highways, the bridges, etc.
5. Develop a national high-speed rail system.
6. Find ways to reduce our taxes, so we have some money to spend.
7. Create quality higher-paying jobs. The guvvies like him have to realize that, out in the real world, we have experienced major pay reductions and just do not have any money to spend anymore.
8. Transition the economy away from consumerism. How the hell did we get to where the economy is 70% dependent on consumer spending? We need an economy that is based on building infrastructure and exporting goods abroad.
9. Reduce the size of government in a major way and get it off the taxpayers’ backs.
10. Shore up the borders to keep illegal aliens from coming in and taking what few jobs there are.

Jobs – plain and simple. I need one as well as 1,000′s of other American’s. Quit pointing the finger of blame, take responsibility and put us back to work!

Good point, Lea. The only time he stops pointing the finger of blame is to shake his finger at us in one of his pompous, preachy, insulting sermons.
