Ratings Report for “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” for Sunday, September 19, 2010, Third Quarter 2010 and 2009-10 Season

For the third quarter of 2010, “This Week” averaged 2.19 million Total Viewers and had a .6/3 among Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  “This Week” placed second in A25-54 for four out of the five last quarters, with an average of 730,000 viewers in the demographic during the 3rd quarter of 2010.

   

“This Week” with Christiane Amanpour as anchor ranked 2nd in the A25-54 demographic for 7 out of the 8 weeks in the third quarter. 

 

Note:  ABC News’ Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper anchored the program from 3/28/10 until 7/25/10. Christiane Amanpour’s first broadcast was 8/1/10.

For the 2009-10 season, “This Week” averaged 2.5 million Total Viewers and a .6/3 among Adults 25-54 with 790,000 average viewers in the A25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research.

 

Versus the 08/09 season, “This Week” narrowed the gap with “Meet the Press” by 140,000 (-18%) in Total Viewers and 100,000 (-33%) viewers in the A25-54 demographic. This marks the smallest gap in Total Viewers with “Meet the Press” since the 1997-1998 season, and the smallest gap in the A25-54 demographic with “Meet the Press” since the 1996-1997 season in which Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts were the anchors.

 

Note:  George Stephanopoulos was the anchor of “This Week” until 1/10/10. The program had a series of interim anchors between 1/17/10 and 3/21/2010 that included ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, Terry Moran, Elizabeth Vargas, Jake Tapper, and ABC News Contributor Matthew Dowd. Christiane Amanpour’s first broadcast was 8/1/2010.

“This Week with Christiane Amanpour” ranked 3rd for Sunday, September 19, 2010, averaging 2.20 million Total Viewers and a 610,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.

 

On Sunday, the program featured an exclusive interview with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as an interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Peter Beinart of The Daily Beast, Delaware State Republican Chairman Tom Ross, David Sanger of The New York Times, and George Will of ABC News joined Ms. Amanpour for the roundtable.
