“GMA” Posts 2nd Largest Total Viewing Audience of the Season 

“GMA” Grows in Total Viewers Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date

“GMA” Cuts Total Viewing Gap with NBC’s “Today” Week-to-Week and Year-to-Year

ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 5.00 million Total Viewers and a 1.5/11/1.92 million in Adults 25-54 for the week of February 7, 2011.  Retaining 96% of the previous week’s season-high audience, “GMA” registered its second-largest Total Viewing audience of the season.  In fact, in the past two weeks (w/o 1/31/11 and w/o 2/7/11), “GMA” scored its two largest weekly audiences in nearly three years – since w/o 2/25/08.

 

“GMA” improved on its year-ago week performance in Total Viewers (+2%) for the 5th week in a row.  In fact, “GMA” built on the same week last year on 18 of 21 weeks this season.  

 

Season to date, “GMA” is up the most among its network morning news competition in Total Viewers (+5%) versus its year-ago average (NBC’s “Today” is down -3%, CBS’ “Early Show” is up +1%).  

 

For the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks, “GMA” decreased its total viewing (-14%, 750,000) gap with “Today” compared to the previous week.  In addition, “GMA” narrowed its Total Viewer gap with the NBC program versus the same week last year by -6%.

 

“GMA” topped CBS’ “Early Show” by 1.98 million Total Viewers and by 630,000 Adults 25-54 viewers. Additionally, “GMA” increased its year-to-year Total Viewer margin over the CBS program by +8%. 

On Thursday (2/10/11), “GMA” drew its second-most-watched telecast (5.56 million) of the season and third-best performance in Adults 25-54 (2.08 million).  In fact, it was “GMA’s” second-most-watched telecast in close to two years – since 2/23/09.

*Note: “GMA” aired with slightly lower coverage on Wed 2/9/11 (95%) due to being preempted or joined in progress for special local weather reports in some markets across the country.  As a result, however, “GMA” had slightly lower weekly coverage (97%).  STD coverage is 98%.

            The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
