“World News with Diane Sawyer”

“ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” turned in its largest overall February sweep audience in three years – since February 2008.  In addition, the ABC program drew its largest overall sweep audience in nine sweeps periods – since November 2008.  Versus February 2010, “World News” built on its Total Viewer count (+1%), standing as the only network evening news program to grow its overall audience (CBS’ “Evening News” was down by -4%; NBC’s “Nightly News” fell by -10%). 

 

“Good Morning America”

“Good Morning America” registered its most-watched overall February sweep audience in 4 years – since February 2007.  The ABC morning program registered its largest overall sweep audience in 13 sweeps periods – since November 2007.   In addition, “GMA” grew the most year-to-year in Total Viewers (+5%) among the network morning news programs (CBS’ “Early Show” was up by less than 1%, NBC’s “Today” fell by -6%).  

 

“Nightline”

For the February 2011 Sweep, ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in late-night in Adults 25-54, representing the first time ever that “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in key adult news demo during a February sweep period.  “Nightline” took the top spot in Adults 25-54 for the 2nd consecutive sweep period, as the ABC program also ranked No. 1 in November 2010.

 

·         “Nightline” drew its largest overall February sweep audience in 7 years – since February 2004. 

 

“This Week with Christiane Amanpour”

For the February 2011 Sweep, “This Week” was up over November 2010 by +6% in Total Viewers and by +16% in Adults 25-54, growing over the previous sweep for the 2nd sweeps period in a row.   Additionally, ABC’s “This Week” grew from the year-ago sweep in the key young adult news demo (+11%), standing as the only public affairs program to improve year to year (CBS’ “Face the Nation” was down -18%; NBC’s “Meet the Press” was down -2%). 

 

·         “This Week” ranked as the No. 2 public affairs program during the February 2011 sweep, topping CBS’ “Face the Nation” by +6,000 Adults 25-54 viewers.  In fact, “This Week” delivered its most competitive Adults 25-54 performance over the CBS program during a February sweeps period in 11 years – since February 2000.
