Ratings Report: ABC News Programming For the Week of March 14 – March 18, 2011

“GMA” Grows the Most Compared to the Competition in Total Viewers Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date

 

 “GMA” Posts Third Smallest Total Viewing and Demo Gap of the Season with NBC’s “Today”

 

 “GMA” Delivers Second Largest Demo Advantage of the Season Over CBS’ “Early Show”

  

ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 4.71 million Total Viewers and a 1.5/11/1.87 million in Adults 25-54 for the week of March 14, 2011. For the 2nd week in a row, “GMA” built on its year-ago week numbers in both Total Viewers (+16%) and Adults 25-54 (+9%).  Further, the ABC program grew its Total Viewer count over the same week last year for the 10th week running. In addition, “GMA” was up the most over the same week last year compared to CBS (-8% and -3%, respectively) and NBC (+3% and +2%, respectively).

 

Season to date, “GMA” is up the most among the network morning news program in Total Viewers (+6%) versus its year-ago average (NBC’s “Today” is down -3%, CBS’ “Early Show” is up by +1%).     

 

“GMA” posted its 3rd smallest gap of the season in both Total Viewer (530,000) and in Adults 25-54 (620,000) with “Today.”  Additionally, “GMA” shrank its margins to the NBC program versus the same week last year by -47% in Total Viewers and by -13% in Adults 25-54 (1.00 million and 710,000 gaps, respectively on week of 3/15/10).

 

“GMA” topped CBS’ “Early Show” by 2.15 million Total Viewers and by 770,000 Adults 25-54, leading the CBS program with its 2nd-largest Adults 25-54 advantage of the season.  

 

 The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. James Goldston is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
