Season to Date, “GMA” Posts Smallest Total Viewer Margin with NBC’s “Today” in 4 Years  

“GMA” Grows in Total Viewers Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date: Marking Sixth Consecutive Week of Year-to-Year Growth in Total Viewers

 “GMA” Posts Second-Largest Demo Advantage Over CBS’ “Early Show” of the Season

“Good Morning America” averaged 4.812 million Total Viewers and a 1.5/11/1.845 million in Adults 25-54 for the week of April 11, 2011.  The ABC morning news program was up over the year-ago week in both Total Viewers (+8%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%).  Additionally, “GMA” improved on its year-ago performance in both measures for the 6th consecutive week.  

Season to date, “GMA” is up the most among the network morning news programs in Total Viewers (+7%) compared to its year-ago average (NBC’s “Today” is down -2%, CBS’ “Early Show” is up +1%).

Season to date, “GMA” narrowed its margin with “Today” by -34% in Total Viewers (814,000 vs. 1.232 million) versus the same point last season.  It is “GMA’s” smallest margin with the NBC program at this point of the season in 4 years – since the 2006-07 season. For the 5th week running, “GMA” shrank the gap with NBC’s “Today” versus the year-ago week in both Total Viewers (-2% – 850,000 vs. 871,000) and Adults 25-54 (-1% – 704,000 vs. 712,000). 

“GMA” bettered CBS’ “Early Show” by 2.153 million Total Viewers and by 813,000 Adults 25-54, posting its second-largest news demo advantage over the CBS program this season.    

The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. James Goldston is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
