Season-to-Date, “World News” is Only Evening Newscast to Grow Total Viewing Audience

For the Eighth Consecutive Week, “World News with Diane Sawyer” Grows Total Viewing and Demo Audiences Year-to-Year
        
“World News” Narrows Weekly Total Viewing and Demo Gaps with NBC

ABC Outperforms CBS by 1.98 Million Total Viewers and 185,000 Adults 25-54

For the week of April 18, 2011, “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” averaged 7.66 million Total Viewers and a 1.6 rating/6 share/1.99 million among Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  “World News” was up over its performance on the same week last year in both Total Viewers (+8%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%) for the 8th straight week.

Season-to-date, “World News” stands as the only evening news program to be up in Total Viewers (+1%) compared to its year-ago average (NBC’s “Nightly News” is flat, CBS’ “Evening News” is down -1%).

“World News” decreased its margins week-to-week versus NBC’s “Nightly News” in both Total Viewer (-24% – 779,000 vs. 1.027 million) and Adults 25-54 (-9% – 525,000 vs. 574,000). “World News” outperformed “CBS Evening News” by 1.97 million viewers and by 185,000 Adults 25-54.
