“GMA” Narrows Week-to-Week Demo Gap with NBC’s “Today” by -16% –-Smallest Gap in 5 Weeks 

“GMA” Nearly Doubles Total Viewer Advantage (98%) Over CBS’ “Early Show” and Leads in the Demo by 78%  

Season-to-Date, “GMA” is Attracting its Largest Audience in 3 Years 

 “GMA” Continues to Grow in Total Viewers Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date: Marking 18 Consecutive Weeks of Year-to-Year Growth in Total Viewers 

“Good Morning America” averaged 4.922 million Total Viewers and a 1.5/11/1.843 million in Adults 25-54 for the week of May 9, 2011.  For the 3rd consecutive week, “GMA” grew from its performance on the year-ago week in both Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%).  “GMA” stood as the only network morning news program to grow year-to-year in the key adult news demo (NBC’s “Today” was down by -3% and CBS’ “Early Show” decreased -3%).  

“GMA” extended its year-over-year Total Viewer growth to 18 straight weeks.  In fact, “GMA” improved on its year-ago performance in 31 of 34 weeks of the season, to date. 

Season to date, “GMA” is up the most among the network morning news programs in Total Viewers (+8%) compared to its year-ago average (NBC’s “Today” is flat; CBS’ “Early Show” is up +1%). “GMA” is attracting is largest audience in 3 years – since the 2007-2008 season. 

“GMA” narrowed its margins week-to-week with NBC’s “Today” in both Total Viewers (-4% – 787,000 vs. 821,000) and Adults 25-54 (-16% – 666,000 vs. 791,000), delivering its smallest gap in the key adult news demo in 5 weeks—since w/ o 4/4/11.  In addition, “GMA” cut its Adults 25-54 gap with the NBC program by -17% (666,000 vs. 802,000) versus the same week last year.  

“GMA” nearly doubled its Total Viewers margin (+96%) over CBS’ “Early Show” (4.922 million vs. 2.506 million), while leading the CBS program by a substantial 78% in Adults 25-54 (1.843 million vs. 1.033 million).   

Emmy Award-winning “GMA,” featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Josh Elliott, airs live Mon.-Fri. (7:00-9:00 a.m., ET) on ABC. James Goldston is senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is executive producer.
