Outgoing Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Commanding General David Petraeus Talk to Diane Sawyer in Their First Joint Interview
As the President prepares to begin drawing down the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan this summer, Diane Sawyer will anchor “ABC World News” from Kabul on Monday, June 6. She will also report from Afghanistan on Sunday, June 5 for “World News with David Muir.” This is Sawyer’s sixth trip to Afghanistan; she last reported from there in January 2010. Sawyer will travel with and interview outgoing Secretary of Defense Robert Gates during his final trip to the warzone as he thanks the men and women in uniform for their dedicated service. In addition, General David Petraeus, the outgoing commander of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF), will join Secretary Gates for their first joint interview. This marks the first time Secretary Gates has sat down for an interview alongside a commanding General.

Excerpts from these interviews will be featured across ABC News broadcasts and platforms including ABCNews.com, ABC News Radio, ABC NewsOne, and ABC NewsNOW.
